Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 vs. Surface Pro 4 – Design, Display and Hardware

When you hear the word “tablet”, what product comes immediately to your mind? For most people, it might be the symbol iPad, but truth is there are lots of other interesting options on the market, such as Samsung and Microsoft. Some of the best products on the market are the Galaxy Tab S3 and Surface Pro 4, which is visible from their specs and the market numbers.

Design and Display

When it comes to design and display, the two products are quite different. First of all, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 device weighs 434 grams, while the Microsoft product weighs 790 grams. However, both are pretty light in general, so maybe this won’t affect your decision. The difference is weight is given by the display size. Regarding the design, Galaxy Tab S3 sports an aluminum frame, paired with a glass back panel, whereas the Surface Pro 4 has a magnesium alloy design.

Internal Hardware

Galaxy Tab S3 runs on a Snapdragon 820 CPU, while the other tablet has a sixth gen Intel processor. Even though the Snapdragon choice is an excellent one, the Intel CPU makes the tablet behave almost like a laptop. In fact, you can even convert the Surface Pro 4 into a desktop with the help of a Surface Dock. The Microsoft product also wins here because it offers you the possibility to choose between 4, 8 or 16 GB RAM, while Tab S3 only has one option: 4 GB.

About the camera, Galaxy Tab S3 features a 13 MP snapper on the back and a 5 MP one on the front. In comparison, the Surface Pro 4 fights back with an 8 MP/ 5 MP configuration. Samsung opted to offer only 32 GB storage, while Microsoft allows for 128, 256, 512 GB or 1 TB storage.
