Designs
First of all, we have to mention that the two devices come with a similar super AMOLED display of 4.7-inch that supports a resolution of 1280×720 pixels at 312 ppi and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The same type of glass is found on their backs, as well, and they feature a metal frame.
Processors, Graphics Cards & RAM
The Galaxy A3 2016 has been released in two variants, as follows:
- Chipset: Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 or Exynos 7578;
- Processor: Quad-core Cortex-A53 CPU clocked at 1.5GHz;
- Graphics card: Adreno 306 or Mali-T720MP2;
- RAM: 1.5GB.
On the other hand, the Galaxy A3 2017 features a Exynos 7870 Octa chipset, an octa-core Cortex A53 CPU clocked at 1.6GHz, a Mali-T830 graphics card and 2GB of RAM.
Storage
Both handsets come with an internal storage of 16GB, which you are able to expand up to 256GB using a microSD card.
Cameras
The two smartphones sport a primary camera of 13MP that features autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection and panorama. However, when it comes to the secondary camera, the Galaxy A3 2016 has a 5MP one while the A3 2017 has a better one of 8MP.
Batteries
The Galaxy A3 2016 is powered by a non-removable battery of 2300 mAh, which is slightly weaker than the non-removable 2350 mAh battery that the Galaxy A3 2017 comes with.
Conclusion
The only big differences between these two devices are the processor, graphics card, RAM and the secondary camera. In other words, if you are a person who likes to take selfies, you will surely want to purchase the Galaxy A3 2017. However, people who use their devices just to surf the internet, chat with their friends on Facebook and make voice/video calls, will be able to go with the Galaxy A3 2016 without any problems.
