Valerie Plame, Iran And What We’ve Lost

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in The Plame Game, The War On Terrorism

To all of those who said she wasn’t really a covert agent, that she wasn’t really doing anything of importance…well, you’re wrong.

She was working on Iran. In fact, she was tracking the ins and outs of their attempts to acquire WMDs. And the Bush administration’s actions most likely harmed that intelligence gathering.

From RawStory, a transcript of the story on MSNBC:

According to current and former intelligence officials, Plame Wilson, who worked on the clandestine side of the CIA in the Directorate of Operations as a non-official cover (NOC) officer, was part of an operation tracking distribution and acquisition of weapons of mass destruction technology to and from Iran.

Reports Shuster in this rush transcript: “INTELLIGENCE SOURCES SAY VALERIE WILSON WAS PART OF AN OPERATION THREE YEARS AGO TRACKING THE PROLIFERATION OF NUCLEAR WEAPONS MATERIAL INTO IRAN. AND THE SOURCES ALLEGE THAT WHEN MRS. WILSON’S COVER WAS BLOWN, THE ADMINISTRATION’S ABILITY TO TRACK IRAN’S NUCLEAR AMBITIONS WAS DAMAGED AS WELL.”

Should Rove go to jail for leaking her name to Novak? Who friggin knows at this point. But should he be ashamed because his brand of dirty politics could have cost us something in the Iran intelligence shell game? You’re damn right he should.

Crooks and Liars had the entire MSNBC report.

It’s so nice to see something like this analyzed with such restraint… :) Thanks!

I think that most people already realized that VP was “Roved” for political purposes at the expense of National Security … They just didn’t seem to care …. pretty sad.

Most Americans never even heard of her UNTIL THE PRESS OUTED HER!
YOU press sometimes act more like the KGB! DO NOT PRINT SECRETS YOU FOOLS. I am not talking about illegal things that should not be kept secret. One rule for all-rich and poor alike.
Some of you in the press need to understand that blaming others when YOU are the one who brought her name into the “light of day”.
Even is some one in any administration outed someone…You should have kept your mouths shut and not printed the story. “Jospeh Wilson”
started this playing politics with intelligence by assuming the Iraqis were too stupid not to put phoney names on documents. He was playing politics trying to make the Republican President look bad because he disagreed with going to war. That is my opinon.
Like I said, the American people had never heard of her UNTIL YOU BIG MOUTHS PUT IT PRINT. STOP PLAYING POLITICS WITH INTELLIGENCE YOU TRAITORS!

So because Novak et al did the administration’s bidding and…oh never mind

Sadly. As admirable as Mrs. Plame is, she was most likely not the primary target of this treasonous betrayal.
From various accounts it seems that her main and formerly extremely highly classified concern was the management of Brewster Jennings. What’s known as a “Brass Plate” organization or CIA “Front” deeply involved in nuclear industry commerce both internationaly and at a high level.
A credible front would require significant scope along many dimensions.
I suspect the real purpose was to blind the CIA thus fascilitating arash of very large and deadly false flag dirty bombs to justify Bush’s war against IRAN and his declarations 20 and 51 dictatorship.

    Please pass this along !
