I think that cumpulsory education laws are **one** of the reasons that: 1) our public schools are little more than juvenile holding facilities and 2) that the public school teachers are little more than unarmed security personel. Of course, this is not the only reason. The roots of public schools failure is really the story of the cultural failures starting in the 60's. Trash in, trash out.

To a certain degree I believe in John Edward's "2 Americas" -- its root cause is public school system which needs a thorough extirpation from the Dewey-dumbasses at the DOE & NEA. Can a certified, card-carrying Liberal please provide me with a coherent answer to: why we should not reduce the per-pupil costs of public education to a voucher and allow (mostly poor minority children) to benefit from educational competition?

Are we trying to keep them on the plantation?
