Mark Warner Getting Back In?
By Justin Gardner | Related entries in General Politics
Does he still have his eye on the Washington or does he just want to be a Governor again?
“I think I’ve got a voice that I would like to get back engaged in public service, and whether that is the direction of the U.S. Senate or whether that is the direction of the governorship, I have yet to make a determination,” Mr. Warner, a Democrat, told The Washington Times last week.Mr. Warner, 52, said he has been courted by state and national Democrats, including some who are pushing him to run for the Senate next year.
“I have received those urgings, but I have also received an awful lot of urgings about taking another crack at the governorship,” he said.
My advice Mark, stay in Virginia. Because if you want to be President, odds are you’re going to have an easier time coming from Virginia than Capitol Hill.
And to that point…
“Ronald Reagan could come to life and run against Mark Warner in Virginia, and he ain’t going to beat him,” said Dave “Mudcat” Saunders, a Democratic strategist who worked on Mr. Warner’s campaign for governor in 2001 and now works on the presidential campaign of former Sen. John Edwards, North Carolina Democrat.
Indeed.

I think he will run for the Senate, especially with it looking like John Warner is going to retire. If anything, he’ll get a lot of crossover votes JUST BECAUSE OF HIS LAST NAME, if John Warner doesn’t run.

He should have another go at the Governorship…he clearly loved the job, and would be terrific…and that leaves his name in the ring as the Dem VP nominee, which he would be the best contender for among the current field.

I’ve been a long supporter of Mark, and i wish him the best in whatever avenue he decides to take. With this said, i’m hoping that he’ll run for the Senate. That would be a clear win for Democrats in VA, making the state blue, and giving them one more seat than they currently have. Yes, Mark could do a lot more for VA as Governor, or he could go to Washington, change it, and do a lot of good for America.
