Rove & Kos Now On Newsweek Payroll

Oh man, this is soooooo funny/sad.

Allow me to explain.

A couple days ago, Kos of Daily Kos announced he was going to be a correspondent/editorialist on the campaign trail for Newsweek. You know, because of his ability to so accurately prognosticate the politics of now.

Ahem.

At the time he also announced that he’d be joined by some big name on the conservative side to balance him out. From the way he blogged about it, even he didn’t know who that person would be. Well, surprise surprise, it’s the Turd Blossom himself.

That’s the funny part.

From Wash Post:

Newsweek has signed the president’s former deputy chief of staff as a commentator who will turn out several columns on the 2008 campaign through inauguration day. The move is not likely to prove popular among liberals who believe the mainstream media have been too soft on the Bush administration.

“We want to give readers a feel for what it’s like to be on the inside,” says Newsweek Editor Jon Meacham. “Our readers are sophisticated enough to know that what they get from Karl has to be judged in the context of who Karl is…Readers will have to decide if he’s simply an apologist.”

Newsweek (which is owned by The Washington Post Co.) will announce tomorrow that it is granting regular space to both Rove and Markos Moulitsas, the liberal firebrand who founded the Web site Daily Kos. “I’m fully prepared for both the right-wing and left-wing blogosphere to be outraged, which means we’re doing our job,” Meacham says.

The sad part? Well, this is pretty emblematic of what our politics look like in this country today. On the left we have one of the most partisan bloggers and on the right we have one of the most dishonest partisan politicos. These are our representatives?

Call it a bold move by Newsweek. Call it a match made in partisan hell.

But whatever you call it, it’s damn funny/sad.

The best analysis ever. I too am pretty thoroughly troubled by the development, even as I understand why Newsweek would do it. They’re some of the biggest names in politics, even if they’re stiflingly partisan.

I think it’s about time to make these guys irrelevant, don’t you? I’ve canceled my subscription to Newsweek and made sure to let them know that it was because they were hiring a criminal, who screwed with our elections, to comment on our elections.

I hope everyone else who’s tired of the nonsense will do the same. It’s not like you can trust Newsweek to give you good information with Karl Rove on their payroll…

who in theirght-mind with over a 7th grade education reads Newsweek?

Oh, for the love of… Who in the hell is running Newsweek anyway, a bunch of half-baked skid-row junkies?

I wonder if the will report on the “Grim Milestone” in the war on terror that was just surpassed today.

I wonder if Newsweek will write about the newest “Grim Milestone” in the war on terror that was just surpassed today.

Hey, what’s wrong with having a partisan blogger? Seems appropriate to me during a presidential race year.

Having a lying, dirty-tricks schemer who’s only one step ahead of a federal indictment because he’s got friends in the highest places is another matter. There are plenty of pro-GOP bloggers Newsweek could’ve called on to “balance” Kos’ columns.

Looks to me we will be seeing a lot of “Rudy! Rudy! RUDY!” in Newsweek for quite awhile.

    Excuse me while I hurl. . .
