MSNBC Falling Further Down The Partisan Slope

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in Bad Decisions, Media

I think it’s been well established by now that Fox News is unabashedly right wing, and now it’s obvious that MSNBC is more than willing to become a purely left wing answer to them.
Case in point…popular partisan talker Ed Schultz is being considered for a talk show on the net.
From New York Observer:
The Observer [...]

Treasury Knew About Bonuses, But Geithner Didn’t?

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in Bad Decisions, Bailouts, Barack, Money

The AIG bonus plot thickens, but only slightly.
Because while it appears that people in the Treasury department knew about the bonuses, they didn’t think it was necessary to inform their new boss about them?
From TIME:
“Treasury staff was informed about the new bonuses in a Feb. 28 memo that the March 15 [bonus-payment] date was [...]

Steele Apologizes To Limbaugh

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in Bad Decisions, Partisan Hacks, Republicans

It’s sad to see, but I think it pretty much cements the common wisdom that Rush runs this party right now…
Steele told CNN host D.L. Hughley in an interview aired Saturday night: “Rush Limbaugh is an entertainer. Rush Limbaugh — his whole thing is entertainment. He has this incendiary — yes, it’s ugly.”
Steele, who [...]

Site Issues Caused By Media Temple Meltdown

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in Bad Decisions, Technology

Hey all,
So some of you probably noticed that on Saturday and Sunday the site was completely gone. Even I couldn’t get into it to post a message.
The reason? Our hosting service, Media Temple, had a complete meltdown that caused loss of service for nearly 25% of the smaller sites that they host. Unfortunately Donklephant [...]

Did Jindal Make Up A Story In That Speech?

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2012 Election, Bad Decisions, Jindal

Another unforced error from that widely panned rebuttal.
First, the original story in his own words…
During Katrina, I visited Sheriff Harry Lee, a Democrat and a good friend of mine. When I walked into his makeshift office I’d never seen him so angry. He was yelling into the phone: ‘Well, I’m the Sheriff and if you [...]

Judd Gregg Admits Withdraw His Fault

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in Bad Decisions, Barack, Republicans

Apparently he didn’t realize he’d be uncomfortable?
Huh?
From Politico:
Republican Sen. Judd Gregg abruptly withdrew his nomination as President Barack Obama’s commerce secretary Thursday, telling Politico that he “couldn’t be Judd Gregg” and serve in the Cabinet.
The harsh response from a White House caught off guard: Gregg was the one who asked for the job [...]

Stimulate this.

By mw | Related entries in Bad Decisions, Bailouts, Barack, Economic recovery, Senate, Stimulus, Video, recession

Pay no attention to the content (massive pork) in the bill. Pay no attention to the fact that it will not solve the root problem and will at best delay a day of reckoning. Pay no attention that it will add a trillion dollars of debt that we do not have and will have to borrow from the Chinese or tax from Americans or devalue the currency to repay. Just pass it, because an economic fear-mongering President says it should be passed.

Biden Flubs Oath

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in Bad Decisions, Biden, Video

Remember when he made fun of Justice John Roberts?
The exact quote was, “My memory is not as good as Justice Roberts’” Obama was right behind him at the time and you could tell he wasn’t amused.
Karma, karma, karma…

Pajamas Media Fallout Continues

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in Bad Decisions, Blogging, Money

Yesterday, I reported how the numbers behind the demise of the PJM ad network didn’t seem to add up, and now a very angry Jeff Goldstein digs into Roger Simon’s reasoning too.
First, I think it’s important to reprint what Simon said because without it you probably won’t understand what Goldstein is saying.
From Simon…

Actually that part [...]

Tom Daschle Has Tax Problems Too?

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in Bad Decisions, Democrats, Taxes

I can understand forgetting that the use of a car is considered income, but note that Daschle didn’t even report earned income too.
From ABC:
ABC News has obtained the Senate Finance Committee Report on Tom Daschle’s nomination to be Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, which indicates that Daschle’s tax problems were even [...]

If you thought $700 billion was a lot of money, well..
It is.
But $2 trillion is.. ridiculous.

This is Danielle Ivory from ANP.
Congress and the new administration have been focusing their attention on strengthening oversight for the Treasury’s TARP program, but meanwhile few are paying any attention to the Federal Reserve.
Since September, [...]

Does the Bernie Madoff doll (or action figure) trivialize his scam victims?

By Darren Garnick | Related entries in Bad Decisions, Bailouts, Corporate Business, Crazy, Culture, Disasters, Economy, WTF?

In this economy, would you pay $149.99 for a Bernie Madoff action figure?
Would your answer be influenced if you knew it was a limited edition action figure?
Herobuilders.com is no stranger to controversy, brazenly giving G.I. Joe collectors the meanest enemies possible to wage war on — Saddam, Osama, Hugo Chavez.  Without bad guys, who are [...]

No Case Files Exist For Guantanamo Detainees?

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in Bad Decisions, Barack, Bush, Guantanamo Bay, Law

Just when I didn’t think I could be shocked by the previous administration’s decisions…
From Wash Post:
President Obama’s plans to expeditiously determine the fates of about 245 terrorism suspects held at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and quickly close the military prison there were set back last week when incoming legal and national security officials — barred until [...]

Joe The Plumber/Israel Redux

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in Bad Decisions, Israel, Video

I did some digging and found the following interview Joe Wurzelbacher did with Shepherd Smith on Fox News back in October.
Among the highlights…
When asked if he knows anything about Obama’s positions on Israel, Wurzelbacher doesn’t have an answer. Instead he tries to hide behind some lame excuse about people going out and finding out Obama’s [...]

Joe The Plumber As War Correspondent?

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in Bad Decisions, Blogging, Israel

Pajamas TV just got more awesome!
Because now they’re sending somebody into the field who agreed that “a vote for Obama is a vote for the death of Israel.”
Here’s the announcement…

Honestly, I think they’re using this guy as a stunt, but if he’s willing to be used that’s his cross to bear.
By the way, this is [...]

The Sad Case Of Muhammad Saad Iqbal

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in Bad Decisions, Guantanamo Bay, History, Law, The War On Terrorism, The World, Torture

I’ve written at length about my opinions of extraordinary rendition, Guantanamo Bay, etc., but the idea that people will vigorously defend policies that put a completely innocent man through 6 years of hell still leaves me completely baffled.
Seriously. This is one of those issues for me where there’s absolutely zero common ground because I simply [...]

I’m still not sure why this guy is trying to force his way into the Senate on the back of Blago, but he had to see this one coming.

Quote Of The Day

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in Bad Decisions, Cheney, History, Iraq

“The original intelligence was wrong, no question about it. But there were parts of it that were right. It wasn’t 100 percent wrong. It was correct in saying he had the technology. It was correct in saying he still had the people who knew how to build weapons of mass destruction. I think it was [...]
