Firefox 53 Update Comes With Better Themes and Improved Stability

Mozilla has released Firefox version 53 for Windows, which comes with some new things, but at the same time, it makes Firefox more stable than before.

First of all, we will talk about the new dark and light “compact” themes, which are making their way to the production version of Firefox from the Firefox Developer Edition. You can select the new themes by going to Themes Menu in Customize Mode.

The new Firefox version 53 also comes with Mozilla’s Project Quantum Compositor Process, software that flattens a web page’s elements and draws them as a single image. This means that the compositor is now able to run separately from the main program, meaning that if the compositor somehow crashes, it will not crash the entire browser (allowing you to just restart the compositor).

Another new feature that Firefox 53 comes with is the new WebExtension, which brings a unique application programming interfaces (APIs) and supports more Chrome APIs. These add-ons are meant to work with other browsers such as Edge, Opera and Chrome. You also are able to clear browser’s cookies, cache and more while also enabling the OAuth2 token support.

To make things even better, the new Firefox version comes with a new modern look enabled in the default media experience and additional CSS support such as CSS masks to fully or partially hide visual elements.

HINT: If you run Windows 7 on your computer, you are now able to select between 32-bit and 64-bit Firefox versions during the installation process.

Unfortunately, if your computer runs on Windows XP or Vista, 32-bit MacOS, or Linux on an AMD Opteron or Pentium 4, then you are out of luck, because Mozilla has already dropped support for the mentioned platforms.
