Samsung Galaxy Note 8 New Firmware Update Available
The Galaxy Note 8 is not in stores yet, but there’s a firmware update for it. Samsung is rolling out firmware version N950FXXU1AQI1, which includes a few improvements, but more about them we’ll tell you below.
The Galaxy Note 7 had a problematic launch and everyone can remember the scandal caused by the batteries that caught fire in weird circumstances. Samsung had to suspend sales of the previous flagship and buyers were able to opt for refunds or to choose another model, so because of this unfortunate event, the company lost many fans.
The South Korean manufacturer got back on its feet quickly and now it’s trying to bury the past and move on. The new successor is already available for purchase and pre-orders reached 650,000 so far, but more and more people are willing to pay over $900 to get their hands on it.
The Galaxy Note 8 will be officially released worldwide on September, but there are units that reached consumers who pre-ordered them and the good news is that Samsung has rolled out the first update with version N950FXXU1AQI1, which is supposed to improve the stability of the camera application.
It seems that the new firmware also improves wireless charging and the performance of the device, but it contains only the Android Security Patch for August, so users will still need to wait for the September security enhancements. The owners who haven’t received a prompt can try to manually download the update that is available for unbranded units.
As for the specs of the Note 8, you can expect a 6.3-inch Super AMOLED always-on display with a resolution of 1440 x 2960 pixels that has a 3D Touch button, two variants of hardware configurations: Exynos 8895 chipset with an Octa-core (4×2.3 GHz & 4×1.7 GHz) processor and Mali-G71 MP20 graphics, or a Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835 chipset with an Octa-core (4×2.35 GHz Kryo & 4×1.9 GHz Kryo) and Adreno 540 graphics, 6GB of RAM, 64, 128 or 256GB of internal memory, a dual rear camera of 12MP, a secondary camera of 8MP and a non-removable battery of 3300mAh.
