We now live in a multi-device society. Back in the day, having a PC was enough but now, people have tablets and smartphones in addition to laptops. All of these do make life a lot easier, and one of the routines expected with multiple devices is file transfer and sharing.
This is where apps such as Xender and SHAREit vie for your affections. Both of them perform similar functions but are quite different from each other. Your final choice between the two will depend on the features you need from a file sharing service.

Xender vs SHAREit: Requirements
One of the first things to do when thinking about installing a new app is to check its compatibility with your phone. Doing so saves you a lot of time and allows you to move on to another more compatible app.
Both Xender and SHAREit work if your devices are equipped with WiFi functionality. This isn’t much of a concern these days knowing that many devices come with said functionality.
And that’s about it really.
Xender vs SHAREit: Common Features and Some Differences
Both Xender and SHAREit are file transfer and sharing apps. Although similar in what they do, they differ in how they go about their functions and their respective features as well.
File transfer can be carried out in different ways: PC to PC, PC to phone, phone to PC, or phone to phone. Xender does not support transfer between PCs.
Both apps claim to have high transfer speeds, one of the reasons they are chosen over Bluetooth as a preferred mode of file transfer. However, the true test of transfer speed will depend on many factors. In short, these apps may fall short on their claims but they do a good job of transferring files.
Xender and SHAREit both support a wide range of file formats, but Xender supports more including APK, EPUB, and DOC.
Both apps also support multiple device sharing and multiple file type sharing. However, Xender can only send multiple files of one type. SHAREit also has an edge over Xender in that it can send a whole folder.
File Transfer with SHAREit
You need to install SHAREit in both devices participating in a transaction. So if you’re transferring a file from your phone to your PC, make sure to download SHAREit to both devices.
Here’s how file transfer works:
- On your phone, tap on the icon on the top left corner.
- Tap Connect to PC.
- Open the SHAREit app on your PC.
- At this point, a search for devices will be conducted.
- When a connection request pops on your phone, click Accept Request. Alternatively, you can scan a QR code on your phone right after tapping Connect to PC.
File Transfer with Xender
Xender is a mobile only app but it does have an interface for transferring files to PC. Here’s how Xender’s file transfer function works:
- Open the app on your phone then tap the + button and choose Connect PC.
- Open web.xender.com on your laptop or PC.
- Scan the QR code using your phone to connect both devices.
SHAREit may seem to have the edge but if you don’t like installing apps across devices, then Xender might work best for you.
