Ken Mehlman Stands Up For Rove
By Justin Gardner | Related entries in General Politics, The War On TerrorismAnd so starts the damage control surrounding the Rove/Plame affair.
“It’s disappointing that once again, so many Democrat leaders are taking their political cues from the far-left, Moveon wing of the party. The bottom line is Karl Rove was discouraging a reporter from writing a false story based on a false premise and the Democrats are engaging in blatant partisan political attacks.”
The release goes on to detail the Republican’s view of the whole story. In it they point out what they see as inconsistencies in Joe Wilson’s story, such as:
- Matt Cooper’s email suggested that Rove was warning him of Wilson’s false information.
- Wilson said Cheney sent him to Niger, but Cheney said he’s never met Wilson.
- A few Senators had completely dismissed Wilson’s Niger claims.
- Wilson was tied to the Kerry campaign.
- Plame had suggested Wilson for the Niger mission.
These points are all very interesting, and they might be true.
However, if Rove outed Plame, bye bye Karl.
