I have a Chevy Tahoe that I love. It is 10 years old now, but still drives like a dream. We had 3 kids so getting the smaller Jimmy wasn't really an option because somebody would have had to sit on the hump (back seat is really only for 2 people).

We wouldn't think of trading in the Tahoe (even though our oldest has now moved out of the house) because we can put down the back seat and put in a queen size air mattress, throw in a couple of pillows and it's more than comfortable. Plus when you are looking at buying 4 or 5 airplane tickets, it's a heck of alot cheaper even with gas prices as high as they are. My family of 5 went to Florida on $200.00 of gas when it would have cost me $900 to $1000 for plane tickets, plus the cost of either renting a car or riding in the 'shuttle' to the hotel ($25 per person - what a crock!!!).

That being said, I also own a Toyota Prius hybrid... it was more expensive to buy but I am saving in gas and the environment.... and in the summer I like to ride my motorcycle alot, which also gets great gas mileage.

I presently drive a Dodge Dakota pickup. I'm thinking my next vehicle will be a car though, because (1) I don't really need a truck anymore at this point in my life, (2) with no kids and no plans to have any, I anticipate no need for an SUV or (shudder) a minivan; and of course (3) most cars don't need quite as much gas as a Dakota.

*sigh* I know it's wrong, but I love my Jeep Cherokee and I'll be buying another one in the next year or so. I know they're gas hogs -- I'm starting to really feel the pinch now. BUT I've been hit by other cars a number of times over the last 10 years and the most damage ever done was the last time when my bumper ended up half-way under the Jeep. This last time was also the first time I got hurt. With more and more people driving bigger cars, I just feel safer in my Jeep.

Plus, I can haul stuff and since I don't have friends with pickups nearby, that's a good thing.
