Nobel Peace

Write your own headline:

“Paybacks are a bitch”?

“An A for effort”?

“Pointless award gets even more irrelevant”?

Or, you can play it straight: Mohamed ElBaradei wins 2005 Nobel Peace Prize.

Dave at The Glittering Eye has a juicy sampling of center-right reactions.

I should note that Reuters, which has a nasty habit of pairing their straight news stories with extremely suggestive pictures in their online presentation, ran the “U.S. congratulates ElBaradei” story along with this mopey, pained picture of Condoleezza Rice, which was taken at an unrelated event a day before the Nobel announcement:

Rice

I post it here in case they change it later. Way to go, Reuters. We were on to your game, though, when you kept running that picture of Dick Cheney with an Israeli flag prominent in the background all through the Iraq war.

One Response to “Nobel Peace”

I call it: The Usual Idiocy and Nothing Unexpected. At least this time they didn’t give the “award” to a terrorist. The Nobel Peace Prize has been marginalized as a brain-numbing propoganda tool for some time.

I’m giving my “International Award of the Retarded Dove” to Sean Penn this year for his remarkable work in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and his scholarly & diplomatic peeing in a foreign country tour.
