Carter Backs Bush’s Seaport Plan

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in The War On Terrorism

Strange bedfellows indeed, especially when (as a commenter at The Glittering Eye suggests) it seems that Rush Limbaugh is defending Bush’s decision.

However, I don’t like Carter’s logic:

”The overall threat to the United States and security, I don’t think it exists,” Carter said on CNN’s The Situation Room. “I’m sure the president’s done a good job with his subordinates to make sure this is not a threat.”

What? Carter is sure about this?

Well personally, I’m not very enamored with the president’s ability to do a good job delegating to or even picking his subordinates. And that’s come back to bite us in the ass on one occasion with extremely disastrous effects.

But if you want another perspective, take a look at that Glittering Eye post I linked to up top. They have a lot of compelling points, albeit Dave Schuler thinks any argument to the contrary is a red herring. Just read the comments and you’ll know what I’m talking about.

As just another Bush hater, I am disturbed by the coverage of Portgate. The AE company is taking over the ports due to a corparate takeover, they are not trying to infiltrate our ports. Both Left and Right wings are using this issue for political gain. The company that was running these ports is from the UK. What was to stop UK terrorist from infiltrating our ports through the old company? I don’t like the idea of UAE company running our ports, but welcome to the FreeTrade – global economy. If the UAE group does not take over the ports a Singapore-Commie Chinese company will acquire the UK port company. The only good to this story is watching the Repubs eat there young to posture against Bush. Link to Bloomberg story – http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=10000102&sid=aNz9Cx4ZHdiY&refer=uk

Whoa there Rudy. I’m not a Bush hater. I simply don’t like the way he governs or delegates.

And Singapore-Commie Chinese? Since when is Singapore a Chinese front group?

Just another Bush -UAE sweatheart deal. While our airlines are filing for bankrupcy the Bush Administration made a deal with UAE Oasis International to send our troops from American soil to Iraq. Flying on outdated airplanes (how long has it been since you flew on an airplane with ash trays in the arm rests ?) we the American people are paying millions of dollars to another of Bush’s friends. Our U.S. company based airlines could be flying the troops to Germany or some other allies country and from there sent to Iraq. Just another form of big business out-sourcing American jobs .
