7 Arrested In Terror Probe

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in The War On Terrorism

First the arrests in Canada and now more suspected terrorists are nabbed in Miami. The plan this time? To strike the Sears Tower.

If these 7 are guilty, and one would think that they probably are given that 7 separate people have been arrested, it speaks highly of our government’s ability to keep us safe. And yes, with as many mistakes that have been made overseas in the WOT, we’ve been very safe here at home and for that Bush should get due credit.

Here’s the thing that troubles me, though. These suspected terrorists are Americans with seemingly no ties to Al Qaeda. However, it also appears that they are Muslim-wannabe-Al Qaeda? I shudder the thought of that.

From the AP:

As part of the raids related to the arrests, FBI agents swarmed a warehouse in Miami’s Liberty City area, using a blowtorch to take off a metal door. One neighbor said the suspects had been sleeping in the warehouse while running what seemed to be a “military boot camp.”

The official told The Associated Press the alleged plotters were mainly Americans with no apparent ties to al-Qaida or other foreign terrorist organizations. He spoke on condition of anonymity so as not to pre-empt news conferences planned for Friday in Washington and Miami.

Miami U.S. Attorney R. Alexander Acosta said in a statement that the investigation was an ongoing operation and that more details would be released Friday.

More as it develops…

    7 Terror Suspects Arrested

This is the latest and future challenge in the war against terrorism: people who have been born and raised in the West, turn against it.

This one was a little bit close for me, I’m in Chicago at the moment for a conference and my brother came along for the ride. He was planning to visit the Sears tower just for kicks. Of course, I’m assuming that since these guys were in Miami, this wouldn’t have really affected him, but it’s still kinda weird.

I’m actually not that surprised that some muslim-wanna-be-terrorists who are american have popped up. It’s kind of a copycat thing that seems to happen a lot.

Seriously, there are a lot of mental cases in this country. My advice is to start worrying more about health care, including mental health care, so that we can get these people on meds or in an asylum or something.

Particularly, the big concern is people with Antisocial Personality Disorder, who end up doing all kinds of destructive things, from serial killing to deciding to be muslim-wanna-be-terrorists to becoming CEO’s that rob their own companies of millions of dollars. In more ways than we know, a lot of these people are cut from the same cloth, so to speak, because they all have trouble conforming their conduct to the law because they don’t have the same sense of right and wrong (a conscience) that we do. They can be taught what is “right” and what is “wrong,” but they don’t really get it, and they don’t have the appropriate emotions of sadness, guilt, happiness, etc. to be tied to the notions of right and wrong.

Lots of crazy people running around.

    To Catch a Wannabe Terrorist

Although we have since heard that the Miami terrorists might better be described as \”wannabe\” terrorists, anyone who remembers Madonna wannabes of the 1980s knows that wannabes can be just as dangerous as the real thing.
