The neocon pope’s comments were provocative, on purpose and designed to create controversy, incite, and fire up the muslim street. If he meant good, how would a learned man of God be so naive.
Unfortunately the dumb muslims keep falling for this ruse and now threaten all kinds of gloom and doom on Americans and Europeans. The underlying reason is to keep the Republican propaganda media machine hammering our terminally scared with the idea of how dangerous muslims are. It keeps reminding them who best can protect them; Republicans.
Unless plenty of voters have seen the light and refuse to get hoodwinked by the pack of lies, it will be difficult for Democrats to survive this onslaught of Propaganda as the election approaches.

CR, I agree that the pope’s comments were deliberately provocative. Almost felt like he was testing the waters. I think it’s a ridiculous stretch to say that he did it in order to affect Domestic politics in America. Domestic politics in Europe? Maybe.

As are gay people everywhere whom he has vilified and attempted to dehumanize, and against whom he has helped to provoke attacks and assassinations in Africa and other fundamentalist Catholic dominated areas.
It does strike me as kind of odd that merely saying that Moslems are violent causes this sort of violence…kind of suggests that maybe there’s some truth in the original statement.

Exactly sleipner.
That reminds me of the whole cartoon extravaganza. “Don’t teaze about me getting violent when someone says I’m violent, or else I’ll cut your head off!! And, I’m not violent, goddamnit!”

“altar boys are still waiting for their apology”
Actually, the Pope has apologized. Not that we can expect entertainers like David Letterman to know or care about facts.
