Ron Paul Money Bomb: $700,000+ In First 8 Hours
By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, Money, Ron Paul
Those are the initial numbers, and if they hold up, Paul is looking at a $2+ million day.
But it looks like RP supporters were looking for more…
It has begun. In the first 20 minutes after midnight, Ron Paul raised his daily haul of $65000. It’s 2:07 now, and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down too much. The donor rate is about 1000 per hour now, so there’ll be plenty left to donate throughout the day. I expect we’ll see another big spike in the morning, and a large hump around 5, when people return from work.
Here’s to hoping for $3 million with change — with the present rate, this is going to be a new record, if it already isn’t one.
We’ll keep updating this post throughout the day as it warrants it. Trust me, I’m pulling for all of you Roniacs to shock the world, but this is a tough thing to pull off and even tougher when you’re not officially endorsed by the campaign.
Best of luck.
UPDATE, 8:30 a.m.:
He passed $1 million a little while ago and now stands at a little over $1,050,000.
UPDATE, 9:30 a.m.:
The total is past $1,200,000.
UPDATE, 11:30 a.m.:
Past $1,600,000. Looks to be on pace for more than $3.5 million by day’s end.
UPDATE, 11:50 a.m.:
Total is very near $1,900,000, which would put him at $3.8 million by midnight.
UPDATE, 1:30 p.m.:
The $2 million threshold was just reached, but the expected 24-hour total is down to $3.6 million at this point.
UPDATE, 4:00 p.m.:
The total is just a little over $2.5 million, on track for $3.75 million total.

This is historic. We’re at 800K in 9 hours and the rate of donations is INCREASING!
November 5th, 2007 at 7:51 am
“. . . even tougher when you’re not officially endorsed by the campaign.”
Bizarre, isn’t it? By not endorsing Ron Paul, the Republicans must have a death wish.
I wonder what sort of performance it will take for them to take notice.
November 5th, 2007 at 8:05 am
As one person put it about Ron Paul “LEAD, FOLLOW or GET OUT OF THE WAY” and thats the way things are shaping up with all this money coming in.
November 5th, 2007 at 8:11 am
Ron Paul is just the messenger.
No one is capable of doing what we have required of our Presidents for the last 100 years. Ron Paul is telling us what we know. What Reagan knew and could not do. Government is too BIG!
The message is freedom. Ron Paul gets it.
Do you!
November 5th, 2007 at 8:13 am
A Ron Paul moneybot is spamming the donation page with fiat money – HA
remember when we were all accused of spamming polls and message boards?
I will look back on this day and i laugh – i mean, we were just 3 nerds in my mother’s basement, spamming Ron’s name, hacking polls, changing the course of history and ruling the free world!
Take back the GOP- Take back America!
Thanks Justin – i would say 1.75 million today. What are the records of money raised in a given day?
November 5th, 2007 at 8:23 am
There should be a consistency to the daytime contributions because of the time zone differences. When west coasters donate at 9am that’s lunch time in the east. And each time zone hits morning, lunch, and evening in a progressive advance so there should be some consistency. I imagine, however, that the majority of donations will come between 5pm eastern and midnight pacific because not only will most people donate after 5 when their work day ends, but people who already donated $100 or so in the morning will see the number so high, but not as high as it could be, they may donate again. No one should be surprised if there is a lull in the early afternoon and a huge explosion in the evening. And let’s not forget AK and HI!
November 5th, 2007 at 8:45 am
As of 9:42 AM EST, the quarterly fundraising total is up to $4.13 million. That is a little more than $1.3 million raised in 9 3/4 hours.
I am getting the sense that we are witnessing something very special today.
November 5th, 2007 at 8:49 am
“FREEDOM”
November 5th, 2007 at 8:50 am
Freedom is popular…. so Ive been told :)
November 5th, 2007 at 8:52 am
Thanks for the coverage. Thus far you appear to have been very even-handed with the Good Doctor. :-)
I think even the $1M thus far would be pretty big news. If we hit $2M or $3M, it’s got to get some MSM coverage. Right?
Here’s hoping.
November 5th, 2007 at 9:07 am
It’s 7:00 AM Pacific time and the tally is $4,209,175.13. (Up from 2 million 7 hundred thousand and change on November 4th) Maybe Nixon was right about the silent majority which media ridculed. To Fox News we are what was called in the good old Soviet Union, non persons- fictions. But we are the people without whose consent this government cannot operate legally. Viva la Revolutione.
November 5th, 2007 at 9:10 am
As of 10 AM no major news network has issues a sound of this news. Something is rotten in the state of America.
November 5th, 2007 at 9:12 am
What a great day, I was glad to see a $1M, but now look.
November 5th, 2007 at 9:13 am
There is supposed to be a 1-2pm money bomb as well… sort of a money bomb within a money bomb. Should be interesting to see how that plays out. $500,000 in one hour maybe?
November 5th, 2007 at 9:13 am
It is 10:12 Eastern time and we have already received 1.7 million so far
Not bad for a bunch os spammers in moms basement.
Keep it up people this is going to be a big day.
November 5th, 2007 at 9:16 am
Sorry i meant 1.5 million not 1.7 STILL NOT BAD THOUGH KEEP IT COMING PEOPLE.

November 5th, 2007 at 9:38 am
When are the naysayers (especially in the Republican party) going to get it? This groundswell is not so much about the man – although Dr. Paul is a wonderful person – IT’S ABOUT THE MESSAGE HE’S DELIVERING!
The mainstream politicians in both parties have veered so far into the realm of Big Brother authoritarianism that they are *shocked* when people express a desire for Constitutionally guaranteed freedoms and liberties.
This is our one chance to take back America – go to ronpaul2008.com and give whatever you can.
November 5th, 2007 at 9:46 am
Go Ron Go!!!!!!!!!!
November 5th, 2007 at 9:46 am
Its funny, because early this morning i got a call from the RNC trying to raise cash to help the Republican Party “compete with Hillary Clinton’s 90 Million dollars.” I told him i’m sorry, but i’m all tapped out. He kept pressing. I told him i just donated all my available money to a Republican, but (to be nice) i’d consider donating to the RNC in the future…depending on the direction the Republican Party takes. He asks me what i meant by that, and i told him “Well, I just gave all of my money to Ron Paul this morning…” And he interrupted me to tell me the RNC doesn’t support any one individual candidate, thanked me curtly, and hung up on me. Haha…. perhaps he was expecting a Guiliani supporter? ;)
November 5th, 2007 at 9:55 am
I got that same phone call, Heather. I said I didn’t trust the RNC with my money, so I’d give it to Ron Paul.

Will Lady LIBERTY survive, or will she be raped by a lesbian from New York?
November 5th, 2007 at 10:03 am
Steve – up to $1.7 mil now. And still climbing.
$2 million in a day?
November 5th, 2007 at 10:18 am
11:15 eastern time and over 1.8 million
The meter is moving at a rate now of over $3000 per minute.
This is fantastic people keep it coming.
November 5th, 2007 at 10:22 am
It seems that the record for a one-day total was to John Kerry in 2004 wth $2.6 million raised in one day, which was 2 days after Super Tuesday. Considering that Kerry went on to raise over a hundred million, $2.6 million was a drop in the bucket, and a surprisingly low record.
In order for RP to raise more, he will need 20,000 total donators today averaging the same as the first 10,000 raised. Doable? Definitely. Realistic? Hopefully!
November 5th, 2007 at 10:37 am
I gave my largest ever donation to the campaign at 12:05 a.m. local time. I was hoping for a $2 million plus day, but $3 million certainly looks possible. Underestimate the intensity and tenacity of Ron Paul Nation at your own risk.
November 5th, 2007 at 10:38 am
I just went to look at Huckabee’s site and i see he raised a whopping 103,000 for the month
Now keep in mind the media has put Huckabee above Ron Paul
This is a joke people lets start sending emails to all the major media and make them aware of this Ron Paul fundraising event.
November 5th, 2007 at 10:40 am
Guys, please make this happened. I am from the Czech republic, and guys all over the world looking at you now. We’ve had enough Bush, Neocons facists, new world order and war.

Juraj we are trying my friend believe me we are trying.
November 5th, 2007 at 11:00 am
As you know, the official campaign can not legally accept money from people outside the United States.
However, you can still donate to unofficial campaigns. Go here: http://ronpaulgraphs.com/chipin.html
November 5th, 2007 at 11:18 am

November 5th, 2007 at 11:51 am
Hmm…isn’t the author of this piece, Justin Gardner, the one who previously predicted the November 5th event would be a failure?
Oops. Way to try and cover your ass. You just got owned by Ron Paul!
November 5th, 2007 at 11:54 am
My prediction for the day: $3.3 to $3.5 million.
November 5th, 2007 at 12:18 pm
June 30th, 2004, Senator John Kerry collected $3 million that was raised online which set a record for single-day Internet fund-raising and caused the campaign’s computers to crash.
November 5th, 2007 at 12:28 pm
Good info, Art. Do you have any idea what Keery exact 1-day total was? This could be close …
November 5th, 2007 at 12:32 pm
Kerry raised 5.6 million total for the day. But that was after Super Tuesday
(http://video1.washingtontimes.com/dinan/2007/11/ron_pauls_cash_flow.html)
November 5th, 2007 at 12:34 pm
Actually Kerry raised $5.6 million on the day of his acceptance of the DNC nomination. We may not hit that number, but we will definitely hold the record for the primaries. I was wondering how this day would turn out, and so far I haven’t been able to quit smiling.
November 5th, 2007 at 12:40 pm
not to disappoinrt but Romney raised 6.5 million in a day. Not that it matters since Romney’s supporters wasted 6.5 million and we are investing our money wisely.
Thanks Justin – $2 million in the next 20 minutes maybe!!!!
November 5th, 2007 at 12:51 pm
Whether Paul is able to get the nomination or not, one thing is for sure. With all this cash he will be able to spread a lot libertarian propaganda and change the world. So, keep on donating. It’s all about the message. At minimum, this will move the country a large step closer to electing a libertarian president in the not too distant future.
November 5th, 2007 at 1:35 pm
DIdnt romney raise 6.5 million in one day because it all came from himself?
November 5th, 2007 at 1:59 pm
From the Ron Paul campaign;
“You have raised over $2 million so far today, putting us closer to our $12 million fourth quarter goal. This is more than any Republican has ever raised online in one day!
So far in 2008, the biggest day belongs to Mitt Romney. On January 8th, he raised just over $3.1 million.”
We may not beat Kerry’s total one-day haul but we should beat his internet record for a single day and surpass Romney’s biggest day ever.
November 5th, 2007 at 2:02 pm
The media is terrified of Ron Paul because if he’s elected (should say “when he’s elected’) they will have to start actually reporting “real” news instead of all the government lies and stories about how yet another government agency has been formed that will “positively” influence our lives by reducing our freedoms.
Go, Ron, GO!!!!!
November 5th, 2007 at 2:31 pm
As of 3:25PM EST at $5.3M for the Q, $2.2M for the day.
We’ve beaten Q3 numbers overall so far and are heading towards beating the Q2 numbers today.
Ain’t it fun to make history? :)
November 5th, 2007 at 5:51 pm
“…this will move the country a large step closer to electing a libertarian president in the not too distant future.”
Yeah, like next November!
November 5th, 2007 at 6:34 pm
Almost at 3 Million! Ron Paul is the candidate for everyone:
Brief Overview of Congressman Paul’s Record:
He has never voted to raise taxes.
He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.
He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
He has never voted to raise congressional pay.
He has never taken a government-paid junket.
He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.
He voted against the Patriot Act.
He voted against regulating the Internet.
He voted against the Iraq war.
He does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program.
He returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year.
Congressman Paul introduces numerous pieces of substantive legislation each year, probably more than any single member of Congress.
November 5th, 2007 at 7:07 pm
the donation rates are still going strong, too.
see http://paulcash.slact.net
November 5th, 2007 at 7:35 pm
Donate a hundred now and save thousands later on taxes you won’t have to pay!
Ron Paul 2008!
I donated. Did you?
November 5th, 2007 at 10:29 pm

November 6th, 2007 at 1:11 am
What a beautiful day this has been.
November 6th, 2007 at 7:57 am
