Obama’s Attacks Hurt Hillary In Iowa

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, Barack, Democrats, Edwards, Hillary, Polls

It’s interesting. He goes on the offensive and then he’s seen as more credible by 2 to 1. Huh…
He’s also pulling ahead of Hill in polls of likely voters, while technically still being tied for first with her and Edwards when you factor in the margin of error.
From Wash Post:
Iowa Democrats are tilting toward change, [...]

And Fred Thompson is basically done.

Iraq Violence Down. Chance For Failure Still Sky High.

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in Iraq, Military, The War On Terrorism, War

Apparently the violence is at its lowest since early 2006. That’s great news.
So why is the chance for success still at an all time low?
From the NY Times:
BAGHDAD, Nov. 18 — The American military said Sunday that the weekly number of attacks in Iraq had fallen to the lowest level since just before the February [...]

Dollar Continues To Lose Hearts And Minds

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in Money, The World

Currency fluctuates. That’s just what it does. But after Bush abandoned the strong dollar policy, our currency has done pretty much nothing but become less valuable.
And what once was the standard, is now being shunned nearly everywhere…
The decline of the dollar, symbol of US global hegemony for the best part of a century, may have [...]

Quote Of The Day

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in Military, War

“Deanna. Evan. I’m so sorry. I can’t leave this fight. This is what I am. A warrior. It is my blood oath. If I turn my back on that again, I will be nothing and I can’t face that.”
These were the thoughts of Staff Sergeant David Bellavia during a firefight in Fallujah. He recounts them [...]

Ron Paul Liberty Dollars Seized

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, Money, Ron Paul

Question that Paul doesn’t need to be asked in a GOP debate: “Why did the Federal government raid a company selling currency with your face on it?”
What is his answer going to be? It’ll seem like he’s trying to undermine the monetary system, and even though he believes in the gold standard, you can’t [...]

Americans Announce They’re Dropping Out Of Presidential Race

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, Comedy

It’s funny because it’s true.
From The Onion:
The U.S. populace, which has participated in every national election since 1789, said that while the decision to abandon next year’s race was difficult, recent events, such as disappointing victories by both Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) and former New York City mayor Rudolph Giuliani in regional straw polls, left [...]

Why Ron Paul matters as a Republican.

By mw | Related entries in 2008 Election, 3rd Party, Libertarian, Republicans, Ron Paul

If the Republicans alienate the libertarian swing vote by continuing to make bonehead moves like banning Paul in Idaho – they lose the White House. If Republicans find a way to retain most of that vote regardless of whether Paul wins the nomination – the Republicans keep the White House. The way to retain that vote is for the Republicans to move in a libertarian direction and find their inner “Ron Paul”. This is the meaning of Ron Paul – Republican.

Ron Paul Says He Won’t Go 3rd Party

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, 3rd Party, Ron Paul

Yep, if he doesn’t win the highly skewed GOP nomination, he’s not going to keep going.
That’s a shame:
DURHAM, N.H. — Texas Congressman Ron Paul said he is “not interested” in a third party run for president if he is unable to win the Republican presidential nomination next year.
“I have no intention of doing that,” Paul [...]
