Superdelegate Count: Hillary 243, Barack 215

Hillary picks up another much needed superdelegate today in former Pittsburgh Mayor Sophie Masloff. This brings her total to the 243 you see above, and represents one of the few tallies in her column for quite some time.
“It’s been very difficult for me to sit on the sidelines and fail to support a woman,” said Mrs. Masloff, a Democratic superdelegate who had been neutral in the presidential race. “For a long time, I was convinced I shouldn’t make a public choice. We have two wonderful candidates. But finally, I just couldn’t sit on the fence.”Mrs. Masloff is the second Pennsylvania superdelegate to move into the Clinton column in recent weeks. Rep. Jack Murtha, D-Johnstown, the dean of the state’s congressional delegation, announced his support for Mrs. Clinton last month.
The popular former mayor’s decision will be doubly welcome for the Clinton camp because most of the traffic in superdelegates has gone in the other direction recently. Superdelegates, free to vote their personal preferences at the national party’s nominating convention next fall in Denver, are key to Mrs. Clinton’s hopes of overtaking Illinois Sen. Barack Obama.
So do not that even though Obama has been beating Clinton in the superdelegate total, she is still in the lead, and unless he can overtake her, she’ll always be able to say, “Hey, the superdelegates can decide it.”
Basically, if he doesn’t want this to go to the convention, he better get 30 superdelegates sooner rather than later.

I’m really holding out hope he wins Pennsylvania. Obvious that will end this whole thing. Hillary staying in at that point would be beyond ridiculous.

I have heard many of the talking heads on tv say that, to be fair, the superdelegates should vote the way their state voted. “The will of the people”. However, the governor of Arizona (Janet Nepalitano) and Bill Richardson (New Mexico gov., former candidate, and according to Carvel - Judas) have both thrown their support to Obama, when Hillary won both of those states. How many other govs. are doing the same? They are allowed by the rules to vote the way they want, but when they disrespect the vote of the people of their own state, then someone should call them on it, and not give them a pass.
