McCain’s Odd Definition Of “Out Of Touch”

Recently, McCain admonished North Carolina Republicans as being “out of touch” for wanting to run this ad…

Now, let’s make one thing clear. Obama was not at church during the “god damn America” sermon and he’s made that clear. The commercial purposefully tries to blur that line and suggest Obama agrees with Wright’s sentiment, and for that reason alone it’s a piece of partisan garbage. However, the point that’s being made, that Obama’s views fall out of line with North Carolinians, is a pretty standard campaign tactic.

So when McCain came out forcefully condemning the ad, I was impressed. Honestly, it didn’t seem like the worst of the worse, but to put a stake in the ground now about Wright was encouraging.

Here’s what he said…

“There’s no place for that kind of campaigning, the American people don’t want it, period,’’ Mr. McCain told reporters on his bus this morning. He said he had not seen the ad and hoped that he wouldn’t, but that he had been given a description of it.

“I understand that it moves numbers, negative ads do all that, but that doesn’t mean it’s right,’’ Mr. McCain said.

Good deal, right? McCain comes out swinging at the partisan hacks, right?

Well, yeah…but then he did something really odd…

On a conference call with right-wing bloggers, he said the following about Hamas’ recent “endorsement” of Obama:

“I think it’s very clear who Hamas wants to be the next president of the United States,” said McCain, his party’s presumptive presidential nominee, in a conversation with conservative bloggers.

According to a transcript posted on the website of the Weekly Standard magazine, he said: “I think that people should understand that I will be Hamas’s worst nightmare … If Senator Obama is favored by Hamas I think people can make judgments accordingly.”

Jeezus…

Can you imagine those statements being turned into a commercial? It would be just as hacky as the one the North Carolina Republicans want to run. Maybe even more so.

So basically, McCain would do well to quit this nonsense. Because not only does it make him look like a hypocrite, but after being told to vote Republican for the past 8 years or die at the hands of the terrorists, my guess is independents and swing voters will not take kindly to having that same argument thrown at them again.

In other words, don’t be so “out of touch” John.

“we like Mr. Obama. We hope he will (win) the election”

    - Ahmed Yousef, spokesman for Hamas, 4/13/08

Not only is Obama the favored candidate by Hamas, they actually like him. I don’t think Hamas has ever liked a U.S. president before. Perhaps this is the change Obama has promised?

What is it exactly that McCain has done wrong here? Maybe it was ABC news who should be blamed for resorting to dirty politics by simply reporting that statement before McCain did.

All people support candidates because they believe that heir candidate, if elected, will be able to best advance the policies and agenda that the supporter favors. Is it not relevant then that the Jew-hating mass murderers of Hamas openly state that they feel Obama as president would best help them achieve their goals?

Oh, and Reverend Wright, the Man who Obama claimed was his “mentor,” a “father figure,” his “spiritual guidepost” and of whom Obama said “I seek daily to imitate his faith,” for 20 years only had that one sermon which had bad stuff? Fortunately Obama missed that one I guess. Otherwise Obama must be really stupid.

Or maybe Jimmy, it because they are smarter than you and realize that they can affect American politics by saying they are in favor of someone. See these guys have been paying attention to our politics for years and realize that they can influence how people vote, so by saying that they like Obama they can ensure a McSame victory, and by doing so gain more support thanks to continued US adventures in the middle east.

  3. Jimmy the Dhimmi Says:

Aha… I think your on to something. But I would go further. Because they are smart, they realize that people like you are also as smart as they are, and these Americans would be on to their secret plan, so they know we will actually pick the opposite candidate from the one we know they are manipulating us into voting. Therefore, by endorsing Obama, we know that they are trying to manipulate us into voting McCain, so in the end we would be voting for Obama - which they knew we would do, so they actually do want us to vote for Obama.

Or perhaps they would be aware that we would know about the scenario that I just mentioned, So that by supporting Obama, we would know that they want us to vote for McCain, which would make us vote for Obama which would make us want to vote for McCain. Which they knew in the first place, so they actually support McCain. But now we would vote for Obama, so therefore, wait a second…

    Inconceivable!!!
