    The signal-to-noise ratio the other candidates will push forth on this, though, is gonna make Obama’s position appear to be the “wrong” one. I’m a conservative so I’m in favor of lower taxes, but this Clinton-endorsed McCain idea insults our intelligence.

    It’s window dressing. Nothing more. Nothing less.

    Look, even McCain admits it’s not the solution to our energy problems. But it is short term relief from the (not quite yet) recession. If you think that the country is heading into a recession and you think the government should do something, this is something. And a temporary holiday won’t have long term negative effects like some other options. Myself, I’m rather neutral on the subject since I can afford rising gas prices. But a few dollars saved at the pump still feels good.
