Quote Of The Day

Fervent supporters of Barack Obama like to say that putting him in the White House would transform America. With all due respect to the candidate, that gets it backward. Mr. Obama is an impressive speaker who has run a brilliant campaign — but if he wins in November, it will be because our country has already been transformed.

However…

There are still a significant number of Democrats who are going to vote against Obama because of his race and they’ve said as much during the primaries. Until that number is in the low single digits, we have quite a ways to go until we’ve effectively healed the cultural ills that continue to plague the collective American psyche.

And I have to think that only an extremely competent African American President can help make that happen.

Because if not him, who else?

First I want to say that the president can’t do jack-**** about our culture. If (s)he could, that would be horrible and I hope I never see the day. It’s up to us.

But as far as Obama changing the country - on the contrary, from my perspective, the only reason Obama’s winning is because he’s let the media and limelight change him. Before he announced his presidential run he had much bigger cahones and was much more sincere and unfiltered. The only time I ever saw any of that in him since he announced was his race speech and I have a funny feeling we’re not going to see much of it again.

Here’s hoping he’ll prove me wrong.
