Now, I doubt Obama can really ditch the Left any more than he can really ditch, say, the Rev. Wright. You can't just dismiss such a great influence on your worldview and your politics overnight and expect most voters to buy it. But with the gap closing between him and McCain, maybe he's finally decided it's worth a try. If that's the case, the race is about to get a lot more interesting.
