Rasmussen: Obama Leads By 3, 4
By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, Barack, Democrats, Independents, McCain, Polls, RepublicansWith leaners
Obama – 48%
McCain – 45%
Without leaners
Obama – 45%
McCain – 41%
The numbers tell us that McCain gained one in the “with leaners”, but in “without” the gap has stayed the same.
On the stability of these numbers…
It will take another few days to see if this is merely statistical noise or if it marks a slight change from the stability of the race that has been evident since Obama wrapped up the nomination. With leaners, Obama has been at 48% or 49% in the national tracking poll every day for nearly a month and McCain has been between 43% and 45% every day but one since June 4.
Personally, I think these numbers are correct, because they’re in line with the tightening that Gallup has shown in recent days as well.
The 5 day w/leaners:

07/09/2008: McCain – 44%, Obama – 48%

07/03/2008: McCain – 44%, Obama – 49%
The 5 day w/o leaners:
07/10/2008: McCain – 41%, Obama – 45%
07/09/2008: McCain – 41%, Obama – 45%
07/08/2008: McCain – 40%, Obama – 46%
07/07/2008: McCain – 41%, Obama – 46%
