The Electoral Outlook - 57 Days Left

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, Barack, Biden, Democrats, Electoral College, McCain, Palin, Republicans

With less than two months to go, I’m going to start supplementing the daily national polling with a semi-daily electoral outlook from a few different sources. The best sources I see are Real Clear Politics, Electoral-Vote.com, Pollster and Five Thirty Eight.

So then, here we go…

Real Clear Politics: Obama 273, McCain 265

Electoral-Vote.com: Obama 301, McCain 224

Pollster: Obama 260, McCain 179

Five Thirty Eight: Obama 303, McCain 234

What’s apparent right now is Obama retains a comfortable lead, but if a few states flop in McCain’s favor, it’s going to be a repeat of the last two squeaker elections. However, these numbers don’t really take into account the Palin pick, and we probably won’t know what effect that had until another week or so when Rasmussen, SurveyUSA, Quinnipiac and others put out there post-convention state polling.

More soon…
