Latest McCain Ad Pushes “Bridge To Nowhere” Lie

I still can’t believe they’re doing this.

Let’s all remember that Palin supported the “Bridge to Nowhere” project and only when it was obvious that Congress wouldn’t fully fund it did she “change” her mind. But that change wasn’t her saying no, it was her begrudgingly redirecting the funds to other infrastructure projects.

Also, given the context of the statement in this ad it’s even more misleading because it appears as if she said no to the pork, when her state got ALL of the pork.

Here is what she said at the time…

“Ketchikan desires a better way to reach the airport, but the $398 million bridge is not the answer,” said Governor Palin. “Despite the work of our congressional delegation, we are about $329 million short of full funding for the bridge project, and it’s clear that Congress has little interest in spending any more money on a bridge between Ketchikan and Gravina Island,” Governor Palin added. “Much of the public’s attitude toward Alaska bridges is based on inaccurate portrayals of the projects here. But we need to focus on what we can do, rather than fight over what has happened.”

That statement was published on September 21, 2007.

What a difference a year makes…

Dude, you’re just jealous that your candidate has virtually no accomplishments that he can embellish ;)…

As for the infamous “Bridge to Nowhere”, as far as I understand, she supported it as a candidate but helped to kill it once she was elected. Oh.My.God! How scandalous! In fact, up until the Obama folks said: “Dude, you’re killing us!”, Alaska Democrats acknowledged as much on their website. But given the enormous amount of flip-flops that Obama has made and continues to make, you seem to be skating on thin ice my friend.

In fact, just yesterday Obama acknowledged that raising taxes during an economic slowdown may not be the smartest thing to do and wouldn’t you guess it, perhaps Bush’s tax cuts weren’t that bad (at least for now anyways). Which of course raises two questions: 1) where the hell is Obama supposed to get all the bribe money he intends to redistribute to voters 2) I though high taxes, especially on the big bad evil so-called “rich” was good, regardless of circumstances per liberal ideology. Oh well. Soon enough Obama will attempt to convince voters that he was for the surge all along…
