With leaners
Obama – 47%
McCain – 48%

Without leaners
Obama – 46%
McCain – 47%

Some slight movement from McCain today, but nothing to suggest the massive 10 point lead in likely voters that the USA Today/Gallup poll suggested.

See, this is why I follow the daily polls. Because when something like Gallup comes out, everybody here on Donklephant knows what’s really going on. So, if I had to bet, I’d say that the numbers in this post are much more accurate.

Some more numbers…

McCain leads by four points among men while Obama leads by three among women. [...]

Forty-one percent (41%) of voters say that they are certain they will cast their ballot for McCain and will not change their mind before November. Thirty-eight percent (38%) say the same about Obama.

Overall, McCain is now viewed favorably by 60% of the nation’s voters while Obama earns positive reviews from 55%.

All in all, the race is tightening up and it’s currently a toss up. But that’s only if McCain can keep the bounce.

The 5 day w/leaners:

09/05/2008: McCain – 46%, Obama – 48%
09/04/2008: McCain – 45%, Obama – 50%

The 5 day w/o leaners:

Gallup/USA today is much more volatile than the daily trackers, especially the Rasmussen tracker, however we won’t know until next week whether McCain has actualy recieved a permanent boost in his numbers or if he’s just experience a heady bounce from the convention which will fade.
