Houston Braces for Hurricane Ike

By Alan Stewart Carl | Related entries in News

As Hurricane Ike heads for what looks to be a direct hit on Houston, residents of that city are being asked to hunker down rather than flee. In 2005, Houston’s evacuation in the face of Hurricane Rita ended up being a disaster with major freeways turned into parking lots and tens of thousands being stranded on the roadways. This time, only Galveston Island and communities directly on the coast are being evacuated.

We can only hope that the storm is in no way catastrophic. Keep the people of Houston and the Texas coast in your thoughts and prayers this weekend. I know I will.
