Palin Takes 4 Questions From The Press

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, Media, Palin

Hey hey, now we’re getting somewhere! Finally some transparency! You know, that think that reformers and mavericks aren’t afraid of.

From Politico her answer on Alaskan politicians Ted Stevens and Don Young

“Ted Stevens’ trial started a couple days ago. We’ll see where that goes.”

On whether she would do things differently than the Bush administration in the war on terror…

“I agree with the Bush administration that we take the fight to them,” she said. “We never again let them come onto our soil and try to destroy not only our democracy but communities like the community of New York. Never again. So, yes, I do agree with taking the fight to the terrorists and stopping them over there.”

On whether continue US presence in Iraq and Afghanistan incites the Islamists…

“I think our presence in Iraq and Afghanistan will lead to further security of our nation, again, because the mission is to take the fight over there. Do not let them come over here and attempt again what they accomplished here, and that was some destruction, terrible destruction on that day. But since Sept. 11, Americans are uniting and rebuilding and committing to never letting that happen again.

And on whether or not she supports the bailout package…

“I don’t support that until the provisions that Sen. McCain has offered are implemented in [Treasury Secretary Henry] Paulson’s proposals.”

And there you have it! Seriously, was that so hard?

Next up will be the Sunday newsers. But please make it quick…we don’t have much time left here.

Is that a question or a statement? At best a leading question with a sort of snooty “If you don’t think so you’re an idiot” rider to it.

    No wonder she’s avoided them.

What makes the media think they ask questions the public wants answers to more than the public who actually asks her questions at her town hall meetings? Why not just tell us what voters asked her and what her responses were. Not good enough. Those who presume to know what I want to know have to ask her leading questions like these.

At the RNC she said she wasn’t going to Washington to seek the good opinion of the media. What makes anyone think those words were insincere? So far, her restricting media access to her is unsurprising and predictable except to those who believe their wills are other peoples’ law.

I’d love to hear more of her but reporting what she says to them is not their only source: they only pretend it is.

    OK, pxfragonard–I’ll bite.

You are part of the “pubic”–what questions do you want asked of Palin?
