Oh. My. God.

Rich Lowry drinks the Kool-Aid?

I’m sure I’m not the only male in America who, when Palin dropped her first wink, sat up a little straighter on the couch and said, “Hey, I think she just winked at me.” And her smile. By the end, when she clearly knew she was doing well, it was so sparkling it was almost mesmerizing. It sent little starbursts through the screen and ricocheting around the living rooms of America.

Well Rich, you may not have been the only male who had those thoughts, but you’re certainly the only one who has a well-read blog and was willing to make yourself sound like a 13 year old boy watching Madonna’s “Like A Virgin” video for the first time.

And this is the same guy who penned this article about the Gibson interview.

Meanwhile…undecided women had a decidedly different response…

Before the debate, only 10 of the women believed Palin was not ready to be vice-president or president; by the end of the evening more than half of them (21) shared that concern.

And that’s the story…Palin is likable, but not ready.

Ha! Last night on Twitter, that was one of my first tweets, “She just winked at me!” It was so obvious and heavy-handed. I can’t believe people actually like that. Winking at the audience, especially multiple times, just seems a little creepy, dontcha know.

But hey, it’s the NRO. What do you expect?

  2. Ed Says:

I’m sure Tina Fey caught that winking. Looking forward to seeing her obliterate the Alaskan harpy tomorrow.

I mean, seriously, can you imagine the uproar if the Democrats had a nominee flirting with the electorate during a VP debate? The hypocrisy of the blogosphere on the right is mind-boggling.

Thank God come November the Republican party will be reduced to a southern, rural niche party.

  3. Gaucho Politico Says:

I have a hard time believing most of that folksy stuff was not affected. People, politicians especially, really dont talk like that. I thought it conveyed a lack of seriousness regarding the situation. I also thought the “shout out” was amazingly immature and stupid coming from a vp candidate. I viewed most of that stuff as validating rather than refuting her status as a lightweight. A goal of demonstrating real competence was too much to shoot for i guess.
