Another Obamacan: Charles Fried

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, Barack, McCain, Palin, Republicans

And this is from somebody who had supported McCain early in the year.

From TNR:

Charles Fried, a professor at Harvard Law School, has long been one of the most important conservative thinkers in the United States. Under President Reagan, he served, with great distinction, as Solicitor General of the United States. Since then, he has been prominently associated with several Republican leaders and candidates, most recently John McCain, for whom he expressed his enthusiastic support in January.

This week, Fried announced that he has voted for Obama-Biden by absentee ballot. In his letter to Trevor Potter, the General Counsel to the McCain-Palin campaign, he asked that his name be removed from the several campaign-related committees on which he serves. In that letter, he said that chief among the reasons for his decision “is the choice of Sarah Palin at a time of deep national crisis.”

The Palin Effect strikes again!

But to that point about Palin, the more and more I talk to Republicans, the more I hear that they’re angry with the Palin pick. Sure, the base loves her, but fiscal conservatives and swing independents really dislike her. They don’t think she’s anywhere close to being ready for the job of VP.

I wonder what Pat Buchanan will say…

David, you can’t post a novel in the comments section with all those links. My spam filter caught it and I’m not going to publish it.

If you want to publish the comment at a blog and then link to it from here, that’s fine.

OR you can do a quick summary of what you said without all the links.

In a nutshell I was questioning the integrity of McCain’s Legal Dept and stress testing Professor Fried’s ethics and knowledge about my lawsuits versus the US Treasury Dept and many others six years ago. Politicking is always about the money or as Jimmy Carville loved to say ITS THE ECOMOMY STUPID. Perhaps you should read your email now EH?
