John Edwards Is Back

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in Edwards, Indiana

Did you ever think he’d really go away?

Apparently he’ll be speaking at Indiana University about the results of the election.

My question: why?

I mean, does anybody really care what John Edwards’ thinks about the Democrats winning? Especially Democrats? All he’s doing is giving the right wing more cannon fodder.

One bit of good news from the article: Elizabeth is hanging in there…

She said last month that her health is “no worse” than 18 months ago, when she and her husband announced in March 2007 that her cancer had returned in an incurable form. She was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004, but declared cancer-free after treatment.

I’m sure I’ll cover what he says, because that’s what I do, but I wish this guy would just disappear for a while.

John Edwards has shown that he understands the problems that lay ahead for this country, and he would be an intelligent and competent addition to the President Obama’s Administration. In his July 2007 Coopers Union speech he tried, to prepare us for what has happened, the collapse of our nation’s financial institutions.

“First, I will create a Family Savings and Credit Commission to make sure that financial services treat families safely..I will help working families build up a cushion by matching their savings and bringing bank accounts to the 56 million without them. And I will support non-profit groups offering affordable, short-term loans. We need a new era of responsible lenders who see families as long-term investments, not quick bucks.”

    Remember John and Elizabeth Edwards:
    “Black America Has Your Back”.

Agreed. At least he won’t be AG.

  3. NYkrinDC Says:

Don’t cover it. He just needs to go away.

Your comments here are completely outrageous, and share nothing but an insight into the vast amount of ignorance that fills our culture. Why would we not want to be informed on his opinions? Sen. Edwards has been the voice for those without one for years. Why should he not continue to spread his message and opinions? Obviously people do care if they continue to book him. Shame on your simple minds.

I can’t quite put my finger on why but I never fully trusted him. I suppose that I am just naturally distrustful of the wholesale populist act. As I remember I heard a lot of claims and statistics from him whose meaning on further analysis was quite the opposite from what he claimed.

Now I know all politicians do that to some degree and I’m sure he’s talented and has his heart in the right place but I’d just be more comfortable with him out of the limelight. Behind the scenes, sure no problem, just please god not in my face.

Plus am I the only one who thinks that he looks like a thinner Ricky Gervais?

  6. Cindy K Says:

I am so tired of people equating someone’s ability to handle professional assignments with their personal & sexual lives. Have we not learned anything since the Clinton administration? At minimum we should have learned that we’re all human and to hold our politicians to higher standards than we hold ourselves in our sexual or personal lives only means we get uber conservative right winguts running the business of our country.

I say welcome back, John Edwards! Your voice is needed. And let’s leave him and his personal life the hell alone.

    John Edwards looks like this:

  8. HGG Says:

    Bill Clinton — not shunned.
Antonio Villaraigosa — on Obama’s economic advisory team.
Newt Gingrich — always on television running his mouth.
Rudy Giuliani — speaker at the RNC National Convention.
    David Vitter — still a U.S. Senator.
    Larry Craig — still a U.S. Senator.

Why is John Edwards more criticized than the others? Because his message is considered more threatening to the corporations that own the media that shapes the public’s sense of reality.

What HYPOCRITES the media and it’s public lackeys are.

But, but, but, he cheated while running for President. Well, Bill Clinton, Giuliani, and others cheated BEFORE THEY RAN, so they actually cheated WHILE THEY RAN, because it was an issue that could be raised against them WHILE THEY WERE RUNNING.

But, when is a good time? While you’re president, like Bill Clinton? While you’re governor, like Bill Clinton? While you’re mayor, like Villaraigosa and Giuliani? While you’re Senator like David Vitter and Larry Craig? While your wife is lying in the hospital, like Newt Gingrinch?

Yet, you hypocrites criticize none of them?
