Sarah Palin’s “Going Rogue” Out November 17th

Looks like Christmas is coming early this year!
Harper publisher Jonathan Burnham says the former Alaska governor invested herself deeply and passionately in the project. He says the book contains fascinating detail.The 400-page book is the first for Palin, who has been an object of fascination since Republican Sen. John McCain chose her as his running mate during his 2008 presidential bid. The book will be called “Going Rogue: An American Life.”
A huge first printing of 1.5 million copies has been commissioned by Harper, an imprint of HarperCollins.
Folks, she’s laying some serious groundwork for a 2012 run. There’s really no other reason why she would quit her position as Governor, give speeches in China and write a memoir.
But the question remains…will she be going for the GOP nomination or will she be “going rogue?”

She maybe laying the ground works to run in 2012 but if she does she will have a major uphill battle to win the nominee because anytime fellow Conservative commentators like Bay Buchannan, Joe Scarboroaugh, George Will etc. dismissing you then what does that tell you about her as a person and her policies.

John McCain deserves a lot of blame for picking this woman who single handle sink his chances in becoming President. He picked her because he thought the Hillary Clinton supporters were going run and vote for him after a very polarizing DNC primary.

All she has to do now is convince me she wrote any of the parts of the book that happen to make sense. If a given sentence has a subject, a verb, and a direct object, I’m immediately suspicious.

How refreshing to see a populist conservative rattling the cages of the establishment. I hope she rogues her way right into the White House, if only to see George Will’s stupefied expression when she does.

I disagree with the totality of this statement. The presidential candidate John McCain behaved very differently than the Senator John McCain. That he allowed her to be his running mate is the real reason he lost independents and moderates.

Sarah Palin is a media magnet, but, in my opinion, she will never be President. She doesn’t have the intellect or the ability to lead a nation.

I think there is another explanation of why she would quit her job, go around the world giving speeches and put out a book—$$$$. She has a loyal fan base and there is a lot of money to be made there.
She probably will run in 2012 and the book won’t hurt her there either. If she doesn’t run, it will be the media’s fault. She is within 15 points of Obama and that isn’t impossible for someone to overcome. Will she do the things needed to overcome 15 points?-doubtful.

but the more she’s in the media, the lower her ratings get. I don’t understand how people could support someone for president who would or couldn’t finish their job as governor. pretty sad.

It’s true in the abstract that a 15% leap in appeal is possible. But if you already have high name recognition like Palin, such a leap is quite unlikely. What’s more likely is that her current numbers sketch the ballpark of where her appeal tops out.
All data indicates Palin does not appeal sufficiently to moderates and independents to supplement her strong support among the farther right. Politically speaking, she’s a hothouse flower. You need broad appeal to become President. She doesn’t seem to have it. And she also suffers from the catch-22 that if she tries to broaden her appeal by pandering more to the middle, she’ll lose her status as a conservative darling.

My guess. She runs. Early vote will be like an ad she has to pay for for future profits. She says something loony, flames out early and then blames MSM and Liberals and Gays and Hollywood and the non-Real Americans and then…
mines her base on a martyr platform for even more money.

Jimmy Carter, by most standards of measurement, was among our most intelligent presidents. You may not agree with him or like his politics, but to malign his intelligence by comparing him to a vp candidate who couldn’t seem to stay in college (she attended 6 different colleges) and didn’t seem to leave a mark anywhere—well, that is just low.

Want some real political analysis, not misogynist hackery?
John McCain was a weak candidate. He was supposed to attract moderates and independents. Sarah was for the BASE, geniuses. Were it not for Sarah’s presence, McCain likely would have lost every state but Arizona, Utah and Oklahoma. Even his own campaign staffers admitted that Sarah helped the campaign. But a VP candidate can only do so much.
And missing in all the commentary? The fact that McCain lost more MALE support than FEMALE support when you look at his numbers compared to George Bush’s. Let’s see, McCain loses 11 points worth of men, and just 7 points worth of women compared to Bush numbers in 2004. Even given the fact that women tend to vote Democratic, it still makes you wonder.
So, gosh, could it be that Sarah Palin actually may have helped McCain with WOMEN? Yes, by golly, that’s what it means. Unless you honestly say in your heart of hearts that we women were drawn to McCain for his fearlessness in voting against the bailout (whoops) or his willingness to call out Obama on his radical associates (whoops) or his dazzling speeches (not). Why would women be drawn to McCain at all?
Sarah.
Only we wished that she had been at the top of the ticket.
p.s. Oh, as for the independents and moderates that McCain was unable to attract? They will be running for the GOP next election at the rate they’re abandonning Obama. Good thing Sarah has a proven record in Alaska of pragmatism and post-partisanship. Alaskans are independent. Sarah is a common sense conservative.

Sarah Palin was not selected to help McCain win with all women. She was selected because he thought she’d help him with the PUMAs. Which she most certainly did not do, because her major qualification for the Presidency was her good looks. And if there’s something a true feminist can’t stand, it’s a woman who gets appointed to a powerful position solely because she looks good.
Her chances at the top of the ticket are even worse. Her approval rating is 40%, disapproval is 50%. Her name recognition is high, which suggests she’s near her ceiling. And it’s 40%. Michael Dukakis managed 46.5%. Do the math.
