I remember being alarmed at the list of domestic groups that were included in the early anti-terrorism legislation after 9/11. And, the Patriot Act included language on “Domestic Terrorism” that would enable it to investigate this incident as such:

A person engages in domestic terrorism if they do an act “”dangerous to human life”" that is a violation of the criminal laws of a state or the United States, if the act appears to be intended to: (i) intimidate or coerce a civilian population; (ii) influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or (iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination or kidnapping. Additionally, the acts have to occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the United States and if they do not, may be regarded as international terrorism.

That’s a pretty broad definition. I’m surprised to see the left worrying that Drudge isn’t kow-towing to the Patriot Act.

You could make the argument that the highly intelligent, college-educated, wealthy individual who committed this act was simply acting out in revenge, but the snippets I heard from his “manifesto” indicate he wanted to influence policy. And kill innocents who work for an agency he despises. So I do call it terrorism.

I didn’t read the guy’s 30000 word diatribe, but I’m going to throw a guess out there and say he probably thought that he was the first wave of citizens rising up against the government oppressors. I think that his actions meet the definition.

Seems Justin that your main complaint is that conservatives won’t call this terrorism. Like I said I happen to agree with them. Unless you want to really expand on what terrorism is.
