5 Common Laptop Problems and How to Repair Them

2. Slow Hard Drive

After you use your computer for a while, the information on your hard drive may become disorganized and cause your computer to run slow. Use the built-in Windows tool called the disk defragmenter, and that will fix the problem. Keep in mind that this process may take hours.

3. Lack of Memory

When you’re trying to figure out how to fix a slow laptop, you might come across a lack of memory. If it is difficult for you to use multiple applications and it takes a long time for your computer to come on, that’s likely the problem.

Upgrading your RAM can greatly increase the speed of your computer. If you aren’t good with computers, you might want to take it to a computer store and have the work done.

4. Battery Losing Charge

Part of the joy of having a laptop is being mobile, but if your battery won’t hold a charge, that’s a major problem and puts a cramp in your style. Most laptops make it easy to replace a battery by popping out the bottom of the computer.

5. Bad Keyboard

When you use your laptop a lot, your keyboard might start looking worn or even lose keys. That doesn’t mean you have to trash your entire laptop.

You can replace your laptop’s keyboard for anywhere from $15 and up. Make sure you get a keyboard that is compatible with your laptop and carefully change it out.
