Moto Z Play Update To Android 7.1.1 Nougat Brings Big Improvements And Fixes
In March, Motorola has brought the Moto Z Play in line with all the phones that received the Android 7.0 Nougat update. The file update came together with some improvements for the Doze Mode that helps extend your battery life. Besides, it brought multi-window features, a button that clears all the open apps with just one tap, customized menu for quick settings, plus many other improvements and fixes.
What’s Next?
However, Android 7.0 doesn’t seem to be the end of the line for the Moto Z Play device. An XDA forum user approached someone at their customer support and asked when will the phone get the next version, namely Android 7.1.1. The representative said that indeed the company is working on this update, but they don’t have a release date for it yet. Of course, we still have to take this with a grain of salt, since the representative might have been misinformed, but Moto doesn’t really have a plausible reason for not bringing the next update to this model.
Naturally, we can’t know for sure about their plans for Android O either. However, even if they don’t release an official upgrade to the O version, Nougat is not bad either. Plus, you can always choose to install a custom ROM, according to your wishes and preferences. As such, if you own a Moto Z Play, most likely you won’t be suffering too much if you don’t get the Android O update in 2017 or 2018.
In any case, the phone is still a reliable one, regardless of the OS you run on it. Many people declared themselves delighted to find out about the 7.0 update, but they are still waiting for the next (and probably last) official update for this type of device. Of course, the benefits with the new update are undeniable.
