Just after AT&T and Sprint did so, Verizon began to release the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ devices. Though initially it was shown by a tipster, eventually we also received the official confirmation of this change, and we can see the changes on the Verizon site.

Update Versions

The update doesn’t include only the regular bug fixes and security updates, but also the final version of the Android OS. According to their declaration, it promises to bring a simple and fresh user interface and some other new options for customization.

As such, the Galaxy Note 5 belonging to the Verizon carrier will receive the software version wearing the number NRD90M.N.920VVRU3CQB9. The one designed for the Galaxy S6 edge+ gets the version number NRD90M.G928VVRU3CQB9.

New Features

For the Galaxy Note 5, Android O will bring some improvements to the way in which the S Pen is being used. For example, you can create GIFs, send messages with the innovative AIR command or get instant translation. Moreover, you can also edit and mark up PDF documents with the help of the Pen.

Besides the exclusive changes for the Galaxy Note 5, both devices are going to enjoy a new battery management page that helps maximizing the charge. It’s easier to multitask and to use the split screen, plus you also have a revamped Effects preview screen.

The Performance Mode will improve the performance at any time, while the upgrades made to the keyboard will improve language predictions. Another interesting thing are the mini-conversations found within the notifications, which let you reply easily and fast. Besides this, you can limit the data access for the apps that run in the background.

Naturally, the update will be released in stages, so if you don’t see it yet, you have to wait a little longer.
