Could we create a class of soldiers who merely serve within our borders, but would never be called upon to go overseas to prosecute wars? Could there be a volunteer aspect inside of a mandatory military class?
What are your thoughts?

I’m a liberal in many ways, particularly social; however, I have always felt that Robert Heinlein had the right idea about citizenship; that it needs to be earned either by military service or some other form of service to your fellow citizens. My experience ss a retired Naval enlisted person has taught me that some people are simply not suited for military service and therefore would cause more problems than they are worth.
