They’re Running Out Of Ballots In New Hampshire

Looks like the turnout in the Dem primary is so mega that they’re calling for more ballots. One can only speculate that this will help Obama, McCain and Ron Paul.

From ABC:

New Hampshire Deputy Secretary of State Dave Scanlan told ABC News that turnout among primary voters today “absolutely huge” — and there are concerns about running out of ballots in towns like Portsmouth, Keene, Hudson and Pelham.

Scanlan said that the Secretary of State’s office is sending additional ballots to Portsmouth and Keene (traditionally Democratic strongholds), Hudson (Republican leaning with significant numbers of independents) and Pelham (large number of independents).

According to Scanlan, the ballot strain seems to be on Democratic ballots, which suggests that the undeclared voters are breaking for the Democratic primary. New Hampshire Secretary of State William Gardner predicted that 90,000 undeclared voters would vote in the Democratic primary compared to 60,000 voting in the Republican primary.

Reports say it’s double. Sounds like Iowa:

Louise Gosselin, Ward 6 moderator, said election officials expected about 150 people to vote each hour at St. Pius X on Candia Road.

Instead, about 300 people each hour were casting ballots. By 8 a.m., 602 people had voted. About 70 new voters were registered.

So what’s the prediction?

Secretary of State Bill Gardner had predicted a turnout of 500,000, which would be a new record for the state.

Impressive.

If independents are voting Democrat I think that hurts Ron Paul.

I wonder how many out-of-staters are voting in NH. That’d be a feasible explanation for the shortage of ballots.
