“Goodbye from the world’s biggest polluter”

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in Bush, Dumb Things Said By Smart People, Environment, The World

Those were the words from President Bush to world leaders at the recent G8 Summit…and the response was understandably shocked.

From the Telegraph:

The American leader, who has been condemned throughout his presidency for failing to tackle climate change, ended a private meeting with the words: “Goodbye from the world’s biggest polluter.”

He then punched the air while grinning widely, as the rest of those present including Gordon Brown and Nicolas Sarkozy looked on in shock. [...]

One official who witnessed the extraordinary scene said afterwards: “Everyone was very surprised that he was making a joke about America’s record on pollution.”

Ahhh…what an ambassador for our country.

I’m counting the days folks…

Awesome. He could have also said, “Goodbye from the world’s biggest wealth producer,” or, “Goodbye from the world’s biggest manufacturer.”

“Goodbye from the world’s biggest manufacturer.” – Jimmy the Dhimmi

    Of what? Weapons of death?

Along with the rest of the world.

  4. Jeremy Says:

I bet the Chinese think this is great! especially since they face to inherit the title of the world’s largest polluter in very short order and on a much larger scale than even the U.S. At least they know the world’s ecology is a joking matter.

    Count faster, please

  6. Pdx632 Says:

Has this been verified. It sounds too stupid even for the shrub to do.

  7. Tully Says:

I mean, geez, doesn’t he know China already took the title away from us?

  8. Ian Pattinson Says:

The US will still be the biggest polluter per capita, even if China’s the biggest polluter overall.

It’s nice to know that Bush finds his inability to do anything constructive funny.

  9. getaclue Says:

Counting the days? Why? Bush ain’t goin anywhere.

When the US economy is collapsed in September and martial law imposed to stem the chaos that will ensue, elections will be suspended.

Bush once “joked” about being a dictator — with the help of a criminally complicit congress, he is one

Bush recently joked about how is farewell euro tour isn’t necessarily a farewell term and also joked about not leaving office.

Why should he? The Bushies have spent the last 8 years destroying the constitution and amassing dictatorial powers, recently sealed by congress’ total capitulation on FISA — a battle they had been WINNING.

So don’t be surprised when there aint no election in November.

Not, that that would change anything…Obama has proven to be as much of a cheap sellout as the rest of the whores in congress… McCain is a doddering, senile old fart who can’t remember what he says from one minute to the next.

Stick a fork in the US Republic — it’s done.

  10. Jim S Says:

Tully’s right. I think China took the title over a year ago.

  11. Justin Gardner Says:

@Tully…after 8 years of watching this guy at work, do you really think he’s paying attention?

  12. mike mcEachran Says:

Jimmy – he could have said those things, but he didn’t. He made a joke about his own abismal lack of leadership on one of the most important topics of our time. That’s the nimrod you helped put in office. Those days can’t tick off fast enough.

  13. Jimmy the Dhimmi Says:

I voted for Nader in 2000. I’m serious.

  14. Chris Wolfe Says:

Good job, Mr. Bush. I honestly don’t think you were a good president, but my respect for you rose a notch with that remark. You are not to blame for anything that happened. Its the jokers who voted for Nader so that they didn’t have to make a vote or the people who voted for you or even the people who voted against you who only voted against you and did nothing else. Took no active part in keeping you out of office other than voting against you. Voted simply because the wanted to be able to say the voted and have a right to be pissed at who actually got voted. Sadly, you are only represent the trend that has grasped America and much of the western world. You did not bring this upon us, we brought it upon ourselves.

I appreciate you being able to laugh at yourself. I really, truly am.

  15. mike mcEachran Says:

    Ha! That makes me happy.

  16. Frank Says:

    In response to Ian Pattinson:

Americans are not the biggest polluters per capita. That title belongs to the Aussies.
