Nation’s Outlook Hits Record Low

If you’re a little down, you’re not alone. A new CNN/Opinion Research Corp Poll shows the nation’s outlook at an historical low. Only 24% have a positive outlook for the country.
Meanwhile, the percentage with a negative outlook has risen from 51% in April 2007 to 70% now.
Since 1974, the positive outlook numbers have dropped below 30% only three times: during Watergate, the Iran hostage crisis and the recession of 1992.
Unlike the three former pessimistic moments, our current situation seems to be more due to an accumulation of events rather than one major event. We have long-running wars in two countries, we have a slogging economy with rising fuel and food prices and we’ve had a series of political scandals on Capitol Hill over the last 2-3 years.
So, what’s got you feeling blue (or, for that matter, feeling good) about the nation? Personal stories are welcome.

I look for positives, but as you know they seem to be hard to find these days. Guess I’m fortunate in that my health is still good enough to allow me to keep working (I’m 66, working and drawing social security), can’t really afford to retire.
Seems like everywhere you look, there are problems compounded by other problems. We need GREAT leadership like we’ve never needed it before. I look at young kids (5 or 6 years old) and wonder, what kind of a screwed up place are they going to inherit?
