How to Download the Windows 10 Upgrade

0

With the Windows 10 Creators Update finally rolled out this April 11, it will only be just a matter of time before you get it on your PC. Provided, of course, that your computer is running the basic version of Windows 10.

The Creators Update is the second major update since the one rolled out in 2014. It is intended to bring new features to the OS and fix some of the problems that have plagued it since it was released. This is why downloading the Windows 10 upgrade is important. It will bring improvements to security, privacy, and management tools. It will also improve how the Edge browser and Cortana virtual assistant perform.

To install the latest OS, you need the Windows 10 basic version. If your computer still runs Windows 7 or 8.1, make sure you upgrade to Windows 10.

How to Download Windows 10 Past the Deadline

  1. Visit a page in Microsoft entitled “Customers who use assistive technologies can upgrade to Windows 10 at no cost”.
  2. Click on the Upgrade Now button to run the executable file and start the installation process.
  3. Follow the step-by-step process that will appear on the screen.

Although the update is specific to people who use assistive technologies, Microsoft doesn’t exactly ask proof if you are visually impaired or have any form of disabilities. This means anyone with a valid license of Windows 7 or 8.1 can still upgrade to the Windows 10 basic version.

Once the update is complete, download the latest OS. There are two ways to do this:

  1. Wait for the update to automatically happen
  2. Use the Update Assistant tool on Windows 10 to download the file and run the setup.

Either way, you will get the Windows 10 Creators Update and its top 5 features. Just remember that the update tool doesn’t work on Windows Enterprise and Education editions.
