Fallout 4 Glowing Sea Has Exquisite Storytelling
All through my teenage years, I used to obsessively dream about the apocalypse and the dystopian world that followed it. Maybe this is why I grew up to love Fallout games so much. In the field of post-apocalyptic games, the Fallout franchise is a definite shining star. And Fallout 4 is the truly special out of them all. In the beginning of the game, you are at face level with your world’s destruction. You are forced to leave your home while the people around you panic and scream, and also you can hear sirens wailing from all around you.
Fallout 4’s Glowing Sea
The unfolding global nuclear tragedy that sets off Fallout 4 is terrifying coupled up with a personal tragedy that your character goes through: the death of a spouse and the kidnapping of their only child. But the most truly terrifying element out of the entire game is The Glowing Sea. Fallout 4’s Glowing Sea is made up of the desolate remains of a town following the apocalypse. It has elements such as the creepy Forgotten Church, a former place of worship now buried by nuclear waste, and the Skylanes Flight 1665, a crash site for a passenger jet.
Although the game’s narrative is exquisite as well, the best story that Fallout 4 has to tell is all in the grim and macabre décor of The Glowing Sea. It all feels like a separate world, and this is particularly unsettling because you know all too well that it used to be a normal region in Boston where people carried out their daily lives in peace. Fallout 4’s Glowing Sea is the embodiment of our mind’s nightmare landscapes that are so deeply ingrained in us we didn’t even know they exist until now.
