Windows Creators Update Available Soon for Raspberry Pi 3 With Cortana
Microsoft’s Cortana will soon be made available with the Raspberry Pi 3 and as such it will extend the devices you will be able to make that can accept commands via voice. For you to be make use of this, you will require to upgrade to this developer board which will make use of the Windows 10 IoT Core. Cortana will function the Raspberry Pi quite similar to how it works on PC platforms and it will feature similar voice commands such as asking for the time, weather, traffic, or even stock prices.
Using Raspberry Pi 3 will enable the owner to create their own smart device which will allow the use of Cortana but it will have to be based on the Windows 10 IoT Core and does not support any OSes based on Linux. Microsoft has mentioned that Cortana will have a chatbot style module, named ‘’chit chat’’.
IT enthusiast have longs since been attempting to develop their own smart devices but just couldn’t find a way to include a personal assistant feature. Microsoft has seen this opportunity and as such they have made the Creators Update on the Windows 10 IoT Core.
The Creators Update will also add support for the intel Compute Sticks and also some base support for the Apollo Lake Intel Chips. The OS already has support for some boards, like MinnowBoard and Joule.
What to take into consideration when starting using Cortana is that they will require speakers and microphones and that’s really about it. Creators Update only supports Logitech’s S150 USB speakers, but the microphone options are a bit more varied and includes some of Microsoft’s pieces such as the LifeCam HD 3000, Blue Microphones Snowball iCE Condenser Microphone/Cardioid and Sound Tech CM-1000USB Table Top Conference Meeting Microphone.
