Rasmussen: Obama Up By 2, 4

With leaners
Obama – 47%
McCain – 45%

Without leaners
Obama – 44%
McCain – 40%

Looks like Obama is getting some of his mojo back after a slight dip last week. Or could this be fallout from Phil Gramm’s gaffe and McCain’s clumsy move away from his top economic advisors?

Rasmussen has some thoughts…

A review of Rasmussen Reports full week tracking confirms the slight tightening of the race. Seven-day tracking shows less volatility than three-day tracking and is based upon interviews with 7,000 Likely Voters each week.

For the first five weeks after clinching the Democratic nomination, Obama led McCain 49% to 44% in every week but one. The sole exception found Obama ahead 49% to 43%. However, for the seven days ending July 13, Obama leads McCain 47% to 45%.

The 5 day w/leaners:
07/15/2008: McCain – 45%, Obama – 47%
07/14/2008: McCain – 46%, Obama – 47%
07/13/2008: McCain – 46%, Obama – 46%
07/12/2008: McCain – 46%, Obama – 47%
07/11/2008: McCain – 45%, Obama – 47%

The 5 day w/o leaners:
07/15/2008: McCain – 40%, Obama – 44%
07/14/2008: McCain – 42%, Obama – 44%
07/13/2008: McCain – 43%, Obama – 43%
07/12/2008: McCain – 43%, Obama – 43%
07/11/2008: McCain – 42%, Obama – 43%

One last note…40% ties the lowest McCain has gone in the “w/o leaners” numbers, so if he starts to dip below that, it could be somewhat significant as far as momentum goes.

More tomorrow…

Will you people PLEASE stop with these inane and irrelevant “polls?”

There’s so much real news out there, such as this:

    DAVID REMES: TERRORIST DEFENDER

Is this a class act, or what? Actually, it’s David Remes, a partner with the Covington & Burling law firm, demonstrating the effects of stuffing a sock into his jockeys at a news conference in Dubai. http://blogs.wsj.com/law/2008/07/16/to-protest-gitmo-punishment-covington-parnter-drops-trou-in-yemen/

(To view his pic in his jockeys, click on that link.)

“In a recent interview with the Yemen Observer, David Remes, a Covington & Burling partner who was in Yemen working on his representation of 15 Yemeni detainees at Gitmo, told the journalist that he had “two missions” during the visit: “first to meet the families of the men that I represent in Guantanamo and second, to do what I can to promote the cause of these men.”

I suspect there was a third reason: false advertising in the hope that one of the GITMO detainees was gay.

Remes’ mom and family must be so very proud of him. I’m not so sure of his law firm and his “pro bono” work.

(Remes has more than a passing resemblance to the soon-to-be-deposed Congressman John Hall, the usurper who now holds the 19th C.D. (N.Y.) seat. I wonder if they’re related? For information about his conservative opponent, please see this website, KML2008.com)
