Sarah Palin Pranked. Thinks She’s Talking To French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

I can’t believe these guys pulled this off.

Here’s more…

The Masked Avengers, a radio pairing notorious for prank calls to celebrities and heads of state, notched its latest victory Saturday when it released a recording of a six-minute call with Palin, who thought she was talking with Nicolas Sarkozy. Throughout the call, which was making the rounds in U.S. political circles by day’s end Saturday, Palin and the pranksters discuss politics, pundits, and the perils of going hunting with Vice-President Dick Cheney.

“We have such great respect for you, John McCain and I, we love you,” Palin gushes, evidently unaware she’s speaking to an infamous Quebec comedian named Marc-Antoine Audette.

At one point, Palin even comes close to confirming her intention to one day run for president, when Audette slyly remarks he can see her taking over the big desk in the Oval office. “Maybe in eight years,” she replies with a nervous chuckle.

Over the course of the interview, Palin doesn’t seem to realize she’s being tricked until Audette comes clean near the end of the call. “Ohhhh . . . have we been pranked?” she says, in her inimitable style. Seconds later, Palin’s aide can be heard taking the phone before the line goes dead.

The Secret Service should be showing up at their radio station any time now…

The campaign responds…

“Gov. Palin received a phone call on Saturday from a French Canadian talk show host claiming to be French President Nicholas Sarkozy,” emailed spokeswoman Tracey Schmitt. “Gov. Palin was mildly amused to learn that she had joined the ranks of heads of state, including President Sarkozy, and other celebrities in being targeted by these pranksters. C’est la vie.”

I’m glad they were good sports about it.

Um…they’re CANADIAN comics, from Montreal, Quebec.

First the US Secret Service would have to go through Customs, and probably leave their firearms behind. Then stop by the Canadian Security Intelligence Service offices to explain their mission and obtain permission to do whatever they plan on doing — what? giving the comics a stern talking-to?

If reaction to The Sarah Palin “Foreign Affairs Experience” prank went THAT far, she wouldn’t be the only laughing stock.

It’s amazing the the VP candidate for the republicans doesn’t know the name of the Prime Minister of the country that is the US’s biggest trading partner, Canada?

There’s only 2 countries that border the US and she doesn’t know the name of the Prime Minister of one of them?

Alaska is next door to Canada, so how hard can it be to not know the name of the Canadian Prime Minister? After all, she can probably see Canada from her front door too:)

Let alone her not knowing the name of the Premier of Quebec, the 2nd largest Canadian province.

Mrs energy expert doesn’t even know the name of the Prime Minister of the country that is the biggest supplier of energy to the US?

What an embarrassment. Why isn’t the media pointing out that she didn’t know the Canadian PM’s name?

How ironic that a joke about a joke was not understood as such.

Hard to tell on the Internet, donchaknow? Now, if you’d done a YouTube video, and I actually heard you giggling, well, then….

If you listen to it knowing it’s a prank, it’s kind of funny, but if you listen to it without that knowledge, Palin actually handled an “odd” phone call from who she thought was Sarkozy pretty well. There was a little light hearted banter, some pleasantries and not a whole lot more. Her campaign’s response was actually pretty solid, too.

I wouldn’t want her any where near the oval office, but there’s not a whole lot here…

Yes, this was a joke. But it is an example of how she would handle herself. The fake Pres. of France tells her taking life is fun and she giggles??? She thanks him when he says he loved the documentary “Nailin Palin”. What happended to the Christian right’s little darling? This woman is soooo scary. How can any one seriously consider putting her a heartbeat away from the oval office. God help us.
