    Thanks for the link. Gridlock is indeed a good thing, but the benefits of divided government go quite a bit deeper. There’s been a surprising amount of scholarship on divided government in the US. If you are interested, there are some links in this post to analysis showing that: spending growth is restrained; better and longer lasting legislation is passed; major wars are less likely; oversight is strengthened; and constitutional checks and balances are reinforced under divided government.

    After six years of single party control, the last few months have been like a breath of fresh air.
