Ya know, Alan, that’s all B.S. nand you know it as well as the next. How dare those bloated egotists, insignificant do-nothings, oneindulgent wind-bags condem the auto execs for taking private jets to travel. Talk about fiddling while Rome burns!!!
Get to the issue at hand - if we forward you a loan, how and will we get paid back b/c you’ve been burning cash up to 6 Bill a month for Q3 and we’re wondering what’s gonna be left in 6 months or a year?
About 266 billion already spent in the TARP, with the results so far looking not too promising - still no credit lending by the banks, I finding it harder to beolieve we can’t risk another 25 to 50 Bill in a LOAN to the Auto Co’s. This is only 3 to 6 percent of the total funds approved for the financial businesses. It sounds like they’re willing to help Wall St. but don’t give anything but lip service to help Main St. ie; US - YOU & ME. What do you think?

Also of note, other US auto makers seem to be holding their own. Namely anyone not using UAW. Don’t get me wrong, I think unions did a fantastic thing in the past by giving us 40 hour work weeks and workers rights and such, but their usefulness has passed. They’ve been replaced by labor laws, and have become just another layer of bureaucracy to gum things up and make corporations less than efficient.
Let the big 3 file for chapter 11, reorganize, drop their union contracts and hire everyone directly, and maybe, just maybe become competitive in the world marketplace again.
Of note, I will totally be buying a Volt if and when they’re released. ;)
