It’s been a very busy week at work (thank God). I feel especially lucky in this economy to have the option to diet.

I found out this week that my resting heart rate is 42 beats per minute. Turns out that’s a pretty good indicator of your physical fitness. 42 falls in the “excellent” category on the website I found via Google that explains such things. I had to pick my doctors jaw up off the floor. He was pleased.

I also found out this week that I’m physically able to do pull-ups. I’ve never in my life been able to do a pull-up. I did five today. That was poignant. I’ve been on a health kick since June. I’ve begun to write about at my blog but I’m off to a slow start. The gist is that through diet and exercise I’ve lost 50 lbs and gotten in really good shape. Fun stuff.

It’s been a busy week on the Donk, too. It’s nice when there is content and meaty threads. 2012 is just around the corner, I expect things to pick up around here.

I spent a little time over at KK’s blog, The Cranky Critter, where I cursed at strangers.

I also spent some time at Simon’s Blog, Stubborn Facts, where the facts are stubborn but not unmalleable.

Where did you guys spend your week in the blogosphere?

    I hate you.

Finally, something we can all agree on

A CEO, a tea party member, and a union worker are all sitting at a table when a plate with a dozen cookies arrives. Before anyone else can make a move, the CEO reaches out to rake in eleven of the cookies. When the other two look at him in surprise, the CEO locks eyes with the tea party member. “You better watch him,” the executive says with a nod toward the union worker. “He wants a piece of your cookie.”

    Everyone laughs….

I’ve been making more visits to rise of the centerlately. More posts, more interesting posts. Good core core of fairly sane folks. No regulars who seem to be partisan antagonists.

Oh, and Jacob. F^&*k you, you bast^&*d. I’d give my left nut to lose 50 lbs. Seriously, though. Well done.

And no evil captchas. Highly recommended.

    Nice.

If it’s any consolation I haven’t touched a drink since June.

That means no Edelweiss when I discovered the Belgian beer bar in the East Village, no Laphroaig over Christmas and no Miller Lite at Camden Yards.

But seriously, I’m happy to fuel the jealously that brings you two together.

Gerry, I saw that on Facebook and liked it.

    Yikes!

That means no Edelweiss when I discovered the Belgian beer bar in the East Village, no Laphroaig over Christmas and no Miller Lite at Camden Yards.

I tend to have about one drink a week and lately I’ve been in my stout phase. It’s been a long, cold winter and it’s the only thing getting me through….

But seriously, I’m happy to fuel the jealously that brings you two together.

  8. gerryf Says:

oops, where’d my quotey thingies go? Must have had an extra stout tonight…

And for crying out loud, could we get some easier reCAPTCHAa????

    I mean, c’mon, what’s with “otorhinolaryngological immunoelectrophoretically”

    Seriously! Gimme a freaking break!

KK, I’ve been meaning to ask you: When you wrote (a couple of weeks ago) “I’m off to some conservative sites to get called a Liberal”. What conservative sites do you frequent?

I’ll have to check out Rise of the Center. I’ve been enjoying The Pragmatic Center lately too.

I’d give my left nut to lose 50 lbs.

Why don’t you weigh it and see where you’re at – two birds. Seriously though, I’d be happy to talk to you about it.

Do I have to amend my mental picture of everybody so it’s a bunch of fatties drinking meaty beers at their keyboards?

@Gerryf: The captcha is ri-cock-ulous. I’ve taken to just copying every comment before I hit send because, invariably, I have to hit “back” and retype it.

I wouldn’t say I “frequent” any. I visit stubborn facts fairly often. I really like to read marginal revolution, which I don’t think is especially conservative but others might.

And Instapundit is a go-to site when I find nothing interesting at my regular site. IMO insta began leaning much more hard to the right when Obama rose. Sometimes I’ll drill through on a link at instapundit that’s really hardcore.

I would say I am averaging 6 to 12 reloads of the captchas before I get one I’m comfortable trying. It’s been well beyond the pale for months and months.
