Minecraft Market To Be Released By Microsoft Soon
Microsoft has purchased Mojang, the owner of Minecraft, back in 2014 for $2.5 billion. According to reports, the company is now preparing to release a new Minecraft marketplace with a new digital currency.
The Minecraft Marketplace is expected to be released a bit later this spring, with about nine businesses that will sell feature packs inside the game. It seems that some of the feature packs will also include landscapes, storylines, in-game activities and they will be sold for $1 up to $10 per creation.
Microsoft will also allow other companies to apply and be a part of the marketplace in the coming months. John Thornton, game’s executive producer at Microsoft, claimed that for the first time, the company will allow creators to come in and put their products for sale. The idea of this marketplace is to allow creators to connect to players and also help them make a living from Minecraft.
According to Bloomberg, there are about 55 million unique monthly gamers that play Minecraft. In other words, Microsoft has made a pretty good choice when it has purchased Mojang.
We have to mention that the marketplace is aiming for the tablets and mobile markers, which means that if you play this game on your Xbox One or PlayStation 4, you’re out of luck. In other words, the marketplace will be available for Android, Apple TV, iOS, Windows 10 Mobile, Oculus Rift, Amazon’s Kindle Fire and Samsung Gear VR.
However, there is a catch with this Minecraft marketplace, as Microsoft will collect 50% of the money from the sales. In other words, the creators will only get 50% of the revenue, but we think that’s a pretty good start for them, especially if they do this during their free time.
If you will want to purchase any of the packs, you will need to use a virtual currency, which can be purchased via your device’s official store (Google Play Store, Apple Store, Windows Store etc).
